Regole del forum

La non osservanza delle regole porta a provvedimenti di vari tipo da parte dello staff, in particolare la non osservanza della regola 5 porta alla cancellazione del post e alla segnalazione dell'utente. In caso di recidività l'utente rischia il ban temporaneo.

Problemoni con i driver grafici intel su acer aspire 5315

Salve a tutti,
mi trovo alle prese con i driver grafici intel su un acer aspire 5315.
Sulla targhetta del pc c'è scritto che il modello dellla scheda video è X300, ma 'lspci' me la vede come GM965/GL960...
Ho provato tutti i driver che si trovano in /extra nel dvd di Slackware 13.0 facendo varie cose, tipo ricreando l'xorg.conf con 'xorgsetup' ma niente accelerazione 3D. Attualmente ho i driver intel versione 2.8.1 (uno dei pacchetti presenti in /extra).
Il comando 'glxinfo | grep rendering' non restituisce alcun output. Ho provato anche con 'irqpoll' dal prompt di lilo e abilitando il modesetting in lilo.conf. Ma niente da fare ahimè.
Ricordo che con le precedenti versioni di Slackware ero solito configurare il video dando 'xorgconfig' (che non c'è più nella 13.0) e scegliendo come driver 'i810' il quale andava bene (arrivava anche sul migliaio di fps certe volte con 'glxgears'). Come noto dal Changelog il driver i810 è stato rimosso. Da persona poco esperta chiedo umilmente aiuto! :D
C'è mica qualcuno che ha risolto???

P.S. Tutto quanto detto sopra accade su acer aspire 5315 con Slackware 13.0 kernel 2.6.29.6-smp.

Rimuovi xorg.conf (o meglio: rinominalo arbitrariamente) e lascia che xorg si avvii senza file di configurazione. Vedi se il problema si risolve. Le ultime versioni di xorg sono fatte per configurarsi automaticamente ad ogni avvio (del server, si intende).

Ma purtroppo il rislutato è sempre lo stesso, cioè, niente accelerazione (anche se agginugo Load "dri" in xorg.conf-vesa).
Se pouò essere d'aiuto posto anche l'output di 'glxinfo' (mentre 'glxinfo | grep rendering' non butta fuori nulla)

Naturalmente ho provato a riavviare il sistema con modesetting attivato e ho provato una volta anche aggiungendo irqpoll dal prompt di lilo, ma niente da fare... :cry:

L'opzione dell'irqpoll, come ho specificato nella wiki (forse hai preso come riferimento wikislacky) è necessaria se hai effettivamente riscontrato un conflitto di irq, altrimenti non ha alcun effetto positivo. Le modifiche su file di configurazione di X che non siano xorg.conf (e non sue varianti) non hanno alcun effetto. Lui usa la configurazione fatta in realtime all'avvio del server, a meno che non ci sia xorg.conf in /etc/X11 (al che dà la precedenza a questo). Prova piuttosto a riportare i log di avvio di X (/var/log/Xorg.log).

Diciamo che ho avuto vari problemi e continuo ad averli per vari motivi: e si fa un giro su siti specifici si possono leggere molti messaggi di gente che sta avendo problemi con i nuovi driver intel. La stragrande maggioranza di questi problemi rigurdano un uso spropositato del processore e conseguente rallentamento generale. Alcuni non riescono invece ad attivare il rendering..

Io ticonsiglio di installare i driver 2.7.1. Eliminare (se ancora lo hai) xorg.con (ricorda che xorg.conf-vesa non serve a nulla, sta lì solo se casomai volessi usare una conf basilare con il driver vesa, appunto) e dare startx.. Se non ti funziona il 2.7.1 provare quello precedente.. incrociando le dita..
Io non sono parecchio ferrato in materia, ma leggendo in giro qua e là sul web, ho visto che sono davvero in tanti ad accusare problemi intel/linux.. Io poi ne ho riscontrato ancora un altro, che però non mi capitava su fedora.. Ho un notebook con 4 GB di RAM, che però possono essere "usati" dalla macchina solo attivando nel kernel il PAE, altrimenti ne verranno usati "solo" 3 GB.. Ebbene, se si usa un kernel con PAE abilitato, il direct rendering e l'accelerazione grafica non funzionano più! Addirittura facendo partire alcuni giochi che la rischiedono il computer si blocca completamente..
BOH!!!!

Spero che tu possa risolvere il tuo problema, comunque, e che la mia risposta possa aiutarti in tal senso..

Innanzitutto grazie mille per la disponibilità.
Dunque, ho rimosso i driver versione 2.8.1 e ho installato quelli la cui versione è 2.7.1 (presi nella directory /extra del dvd di Slackware 13.0).
Ho creato un xorg.conf con il comando 'xorgsetup' e ho apportato alcune modifiche, poi ho avviato X con 'startx'.
Devo dire che i frame sono notevolemente diminuiti (tipo 50-60 fps) ma nonostante ciò noto che gli ingranaggi di glxgears vanno fluidi, mentre prima scattavano.
Avevo già provato anche tutti gli altri driver alternativi più o meno con gli stessi risultati dei 2.7.1.
Vi posto un po' di output.

Ma scusa a me sembra che vada tutto bene.. nel log di Xorg non vedo mica errori. Poi considera che, ma non ne sono sicurissimo, con gli aggiornamenti di Mesa e quindi con il passaggio alla nuova versione di Xorg, glxinfo e glxgears sono molto cambianti, tant'è che hanno bisogno di una nuova dipendenza che a memoria mi pare sia libglow 1.5.. Ora, non vorrei dire cavolate, ma leggevo su freedesktop.org che molti accusavano valori inferiori in glxgears, quindi credo sia cambiato la modalità di registrazione dei frame.. però sicurissimo non ne sono.
Io francamente sto ancora cercando la mia conf ottimale ed ho remore ad aggiungere nuove opzioni per il rendering ed il 3d perché vedo che con il conf semplice di X -configure, compiz parte e funziona bene.
Se invece avvio la slack con lo stesso identico kernel da me modificato, solo con l'opzione PAE abilitata per usare tutti e 4 i miei GB di RAM, allora appena uso un programma o gioco che richiede l'accelerazione grafica, il sistema va in freeze totale, posso solo riavviare selvaggiamente! Questa cosa ancora non l'ho capita bene..
Comunque, tornando a te, non vedo ancora dove sia il problema.. noti rallentamenti (anche questo succedeva a molti con diverse versioni del driver intel - ecco perché la slackware, nella sezione extra, continua ad ospitare versioni alternative di questo driver).

Ho provato anche gli altri driver (alternate) generando un xorg.conf ogni volta. Il server X parte, tutto ok. A prima vista nessun rallentamento nella grafica del sistema. Allora ho provato a installare quake 3 arena e lì mi sono reso conto che va un po' peggio rispetto alla Slackware 12.2 che avevo prima...
Riassumendo: il server grafico è ok nel senso che non scatta e non sembra lento, inoltre mi tiene su bene la massima risoluzione (1280x800). L'unica cosa, sono peggiorate le prestazioni rispetto alla Slackware che avevo prima per quanto concerne il 3D. IN ogni caso i driver 2.7.1 (se non sbaglio) vanno meglio dei 2.8.0 (quelli di default) e dei 2.8.1. Questo è quello che ho potuto constatare. Più di così non sono riuscito a fare... Quindi non so se mettere un bel RISOLTO o meno davanti al titolo del topic (anche perchè mi sa che non ci sta... :D ). In ogni caso grazie a tutti per l'aiuto.

anch'io so i 2.7.1.. ho dovuto fare il downgrade quando ho visto che il 2.8.0 la cpu sembrava di piombo! avevo fatto delle ricerche su freedesktop e visto che lo stesso problema lo riscontravano anche altri.. Inoltre il mio più grande cruccio è che non posso utilizzare tutti i 4 GB di Ram attivando il PAE nel kernel perché il driver intel non è compatibile con questa aggiunta..
O i 4 GB o il 3d.. questo il problema.. :)

ciao.
Io ho una gm 965 della intel per ora sono riuscito a farla andare un po alla bene meglio, cioe mi spiego meglio sono riuscito ad abilitare qualche opzione ma nn riesco a far partire compiz mi da un errore sul display 0:0 anche con il comando replace continua a nn succedere nulla.Probabilmente ho sbagliato io qualcosa magari nell installazione dei driver , so che ho letto 1000 guide ma ancora nn ci sono saltato fuori :D per ora mi accontento di fare partire kde e di avere il frame su glxgears che prima manco partiva.


P.s. sono nuovo ed e 2 settimane che uso Slackware. Non siate troppo critici neimiei confronti ihihihiihiih

beh innanzitutto prova a fornirci qualche info in più, ad esempio quale versione di Slackware usi, con quale kernel e magari il nome e la versione del driver che hai tentato di installare... Solamente così potremo cercare di esserti utili... :thumbright:
