Regole del forum

Ho capito perché l'ibernazione non mi ha mai funzionato su questa configurazione del sistema: la partizione di swap che ho creato l'ultima volta che mi sono divertito a martoriare con partizioni il mio HD principale era troppo piccola (520MB) per contenere le immagini dei processi in memoria (ho 3GB di RAM). Creando una nuova partizione da 4GB e usando quella per il resume anche l'hibernate/"suspend to disk" mi funziona perfettamente.
La documentazione del kernel al riguardo (/usr/src/linux/Documentation/power/swsusp.txt) mi aveva tratto in inganno, riportando che la dimensione dell'immagine è 500MB di default.
Appena posso faccio prove con standby/"suspend to RAM" per vedere se il sistema si sveglia o no.

nulla.
eliminate le tre righe del framebuffer radeon e aggiunta CONFIG_PREVENT_FIRMWARE_BUILD=y
sempre 30-40 secondi di attesa.
ecco il dmesg
da li si vede che effettivamente cerca un firmware nel filesystem che non trova

Io il make firmware_install non lo lancio, tanto abbiamo i firmware in built_in nel kernel. Come ti dicevo prima la directory /lib/firmware contiene solo quello per la scheda wireless.

Tornando al tuo problema. E' evidente che è la mancanza del firmware a crearti problemi, ed ecco perché a me fila tutto liscio, il mio firmware viene distribuito con il kernel, il tuo, da quello che ho capito, ha problemi di licenza. Da questo link si raggiunge quest'altro dove in fondo potrai trovare i due firmware che danno problemi l'R600_rlc.bin e il tuo R700_rlc.bin. C'è anche la licenza se vuoi dargli un'occhiata. Prova ad inserire il firmware dove viene indicato "/lib/firmware/radeon/" e vedi se funziona, alternativamente puoi sempre usare l'opzione CONFIG_EXTRA_FIRMWARE="" del kernel per indicargli dove si trova, in modo che venga inserito nel kernel stesso.

si le due alternative sono quelle. stasera provo
ho visto che il firmware fa parte del pacchetto 'radeon_ucode'. nella mia current64 ci dovrebbe essere. e ricordo di averlo installato con slackpkg install-new.
qui comunque c'è la spiegazione

Ok, poi facci sapere come finisce la storia. Secondo me ti serve solo il firmware incriminato e non tutti quelli segnalati, proprio come dice:
You can omit those firmware files for which you do not actually have hardware
Ti confermo che il pacchetto radeon_ucode si trova nella current sotto la directory 'x/',

OK, grade! Visto che non rispondevi più ho pensato che ti fosse esploso il PC :lol:.

Ritornando in topic, possiamo dire che l'ibernazione (suspend to disk) funziona, giusto? Almeno dalle prove fatte da 414N. Quello che resta da testare è il suspend to RAM, alla fine sembrano funzionare bene questi driver e sono un vero toccasana per quelli che come me non hanno più il supporto da parte dei driver closed.

ho avuto tantissimi problemi nel fare quella apparentemente semplice configurazione.
non sto a spiegare tutto ma ci volgliono tanti piccoli accorgimenti (non documentati) per utilizzare quella funzione che istruisce il make a caricarselo in pancia e di rilevarlo come presente al boot.
se qualcuno legge il topic ed ha gli stessi prob. mi mandi pure un pm.
ora poi è meglio utilizzare r700_rlc.bin sul git ufficiale del kernel caricato direttamente da amd il 26.
confermo che con una swap di 2g e uguale memoria l'hibernate funziona perfettamente (kernel statico 27.2 / slack64-current)

offtopic: confermo anche che firefox beta 12 utilizza questo driver open con accelerazione hw correttamente
