consiglio Hard Disk Sata 3.5

ho un HD che mi sta dando problemi.
ha due partizioni, una normale ed un criptata. Su cui ci sono vari "volumi" LVM
Va beh, da un po' di tempo mi trovo errori nel filesystem, tipo "comando non trovato", etc... oppure il pc si blocca e devo riavviare.
Se fa il check in fase di avvio da molti errori di i/o, con impossibilità a ricostruire il journal. Ora non parte più, sono con un cd live.
Ma sarà colpa dell'hd o del controller? L'hd alla fine è il pezzo più recente del pc :-(
Partendo da live l'hard disk lo monta, infatti sto facendo backup dei dati più importanti

puoi provare così:

ma di solito quando il kernel comincia a dare errori di I/O su un disco, di li a poco tocca buttarlo. Magari riassegnando i blocchi sfasciati (se è scsi) o ricreando la partition table in modo da non usarli, riesci a tirare avanti per un paio di mesetti ancora (se lo tieni sempre acceso), ma se hai fatto il backup non ti conviene perdere tempo a riparare e reinstallare, tanto di li a poco dovrai comunque sostituire il disco e reinstallare tutto.

facenco un controllo con badblocks è completamente andato...
l'acquisto più recente in ambito informatico che ho, smartctl segnalava poco più di un anno. Era un seagate barracuda 7200.11 da 500gb
Ed ho visto che adesso gli HD costano troppo, grrrrrrrr

visto che ormai è andato devo guardarmi intorno e vi chiedo qualche consiglio
il PC è un P4, la scheda madre è una Asus P5S800-VM, quindi SATA2

che HD mi consigliate come rapporto prezzo/prestazioni?

Aggiungo, come indicazione per altri, che, nella mia esperienza, quando Reallocated_Sector_Ct comincia a salire (ma già un valore di 1, o 2 è da guardare con sospetto), il disco sta arrivando al termine della sua vita, e va sostituito al più presto.

:edit: ho fatto una veloce ricerca su internet. Da quello che ho capito l'entry di conraid alla voce Reallocated_Sector_Ct è indicatrice di guai perché il suo valore è al di sotto della soglia. In pratica, se ho capito bene, dal suo output:

Nei parametri smart dell'hdd (quelli fondamentali e certi) bisogna guardare i valori presenti in queste colonne:

VALUE WORST THRESH
-------------------------------------------

Il primo, VALUE, è il valore attuale. WORST è il peggiore rilevato, THRESH è il valore limite imposto dal produttore.

In pratica quando il primo dei tre (VALUE) raggiunge il valore THRESH o diventa + basso, il disco sta per andarsene o è già andato.
Nell'output postato da conraid, al di la dell' errore su l'health test che la dice tutta, è evidente che il disco è alla frutta.

In particolare:

E c'è anche un bel FAILING_NOW che non lascia adito a dubbi. Ma anche altri parametri sono sotto il valore di guardia.

C'è un errore su Reallocated_Sector_Ct (RAW_VALUE=1), ma VALUE e WORST(=100) sono di gran lunga sopra THRESH (36). Ciò significa che è stato rilevato un problema al disco, ma non è "fatale". Ed infatti è così da 8 anni almeno. Se quel valore però dovesse salire ancora - o meglio, scendere: a salire sarà il valore RAW_VALUE - allora sì che ci sarebbe da preoccuparsi. Ad ogni modo non è affatto rassicurante, ed infatti su quel disco non ci metto nulla d'importante, lo uso solo per test e per parcheggiarci dati temporanei.

Hai evitato il firmware bug, ma ti ha mollato per un altro motivo.
Ti consiglio un Samsung come prossimo disco.

Vero, c'è anche la faccenda dei firmware bug.
Ho un Maxtor da 80G e i parametri smart sono completamente sballati. Il disco invece è in perfetto stato.

e se... smontassi il case della periferica esterna ed usassi quel disco (dopo aver spostato i dati altrove) come interno? Secondo voi è fattibile? Almeno comprerei il tutto dopo le feste, se non quando i prezzi tornerebbero ad abbassarsi

I parametri smart dei 2 dischi sono tutti buoni, se non m'è sfuggito nulla.

Alla tua domanda però non so rispondere: non conosco le unità freeagent. Ma se sono case con normali hdd dentro, credo si possa fare. Controlla magari nei dati tecnici, in particolare se il disco richiede alimentazione elettrica non standard. Ma ripeto, ne so meno di te.

no, basta che non lo prendi a calci, lo apri, ed estrai il disco levando i connettori di alimentazione e dati, senza tirare come un ossesso, nel caso non escano dalle sedi.

non ci sono viti, il disco sembra sata leggendo le specifiche.

Un disco pata ce l'ho, ma il controller della scheda madre non va. Per questo comprati quel sata. Comunque nei prossimi giorni faccio qualche prova. Aspettando tempi migliori, anche se a questo punto mi sa che mi conviene fare una spesa e comprarmi un pc nuovo
