the correct boot option?

Salve,
Non riesco a far funzionare il kernel 2.6.18.
Nella precedente installazione (fatta su ext3) riuscivo a farlo funzionare ma in questa (slack 11 su reiserfs) mi da questo errore:
slack è installata sul /dev/hda6 , e ho messo root=/dev/hda6 ed infatti è giusto poichè con questa opzione mi boota il kernel huge26 del cd di slack.
il supporto per il file system, Reiserfs è compilato staticamente nel kernel:
In alcuni forum ho letto suggerimenti sul creare un initrd. io non lo mai fatto per alcun kernel che ho compilato... da quanto ho capito, penso che serva solo se volgio compilare come moduli componenti necessari durante il boot tipo -nel mio caso- Reiserfs, quindi non mi dovrebbe servire. Penso giusto?
Mi sembrava di riordare che in passato avessi messo anche, come opzione dopo root=/dev/hda6 ro, ma ho provato anche questo e non cambia nulla.
Da cosa può dipendere il problema?
