Hi,

I want to build VLC manually, step by step, but there are quite a lot of dependencies. I downloaded the "dipendenze.tar.gz" pack from the repository, and I take a look at the files:

Question: what order do you recommend for the build, so I can avoid a major disaster? I take a close look at the slack-required file of each of these, but there are quite many. Maybe someone more familiar with these libs can give me a quick hint?

(e possibilie respondere in italiano... lo capisco un poco... sorry)

Cheers,

because the packages are simply files that you are copying into your system,
I can't imagine that there will be much of a problem if you simply do:

"upgradepkg --install-new *"

Well, I don't want to install the *packages*, but I want to build them all from source.

I have a desktop build project for a complete XFCE-4.4 desktop with GNOME libs and multimedia apps. If you want to take a look at it:

svn co svn://svn.tuxfamily.org/svnroot/slackware/slickware/slickware-11.0

It's a pack of about 100 SlackBuild scripts that automatically download sources, build and install a complete custom desktop. Now I want to integrate VLC and a bunch of other multimedia apps into that project, so I'd rather check out the sources step by step.

Cheers,

Niki

alright... then you need to be a lot more careful about the order or things won't build.
I am not really in a position to tell you what depends on what, but you can probably
find this information for either the tgz packager or the homepage of the project.

Start with no dependencies package. For check it, go in the download section and looking for a package name.
http://www.slacky.it/index.php?option=c ... &Itemid=29

From here you can see a list of dependencies.

Example for FFMPEG

Dipendenze: lame, xvid, imlib2, a52, libdc1394, libraw1394, faad2, faac, id3lib, lzo, libgsm, mpeg4ip, libdts
