Problema post ricompilazione kernel

Allora sn riuscito a compilarlo con sucesso e adesso all'avvio di lilo è presnete anche il kernel 2.6.
Anche avviandolo non ci sono problemi (cioè non mi da il kernel panic .) una volta arrivati al login mi loggo come utente ed entro nel sistema, cerco di avviare X ma mi da errore :(
L'errore in quetsione è questo:
FATAL SERVER ERROR:
No screens found.

XIO: Fatal IO error 194 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"
after 0 request (0 know processed) with 0 events remaining.
Spulciando un pò xorg.conf ho capito che stranamnete quest'ultimo non parte perchè non riesce a trovava i driver aggiornati di nvidia, pur avendoli installati sul kernel 2.4 ... strano, comunque una volta scoperto questo mi accingo ad installarli, ma mio malgrado ho scoperto che lanciando il setup di NVIDIA non riesce a trovare una libreria necessaria, che si trova in /lib/modules/2.6.18.2/, mi reco a quell'indirzzo e scopro che non c'è nulla ... la carteòòa 2.6.18.2 non presenta alcunchè ...
Ora io ho usato per la configurazione del kernel il file standard configurato da pet (config-generic-2.6.18), quindi non so cosa pensare ... forse ho sbagliato/dimenticato qualcosa mentre compilavo il kernel? Oo

I driver vanno reinstallati ogni cambio di kernel.

Hai dato in init 3 un qualcosa tipo
sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9755-pkg1.run -qn
?

Si certo è ovvio.

No. Ho semplicemente dato il comando sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-*-pkg1.run
Cosa che avevo fatto anche con l'installazione precedente sul kernel 2.4, con il quale non avevo riscontrato problemi :cry:

In /lib/modules/2.6.18 dovresti avere i moduli del kernel se è vuota qualcosa tra make modules e make modules_install non è andato a buon fine.

Rilancia questi due comandi come root nella directory che contiene i sorgenti linux /usr/src/linux.

Dopodichè reinstalla i driver nvidia
sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9755-pkg1.run

ok ... però una cosa, è normale che con il file di configurazione di pat, mi segni tutti i moduli in [M]? O_o

Sì, perché in questo modo il kernel si adatta ad un vasto numero di macchine, caricando solo i moduli che di volta in volta gli servono a seconda della macchina dove viene installato.

La soluzione è questa qui. Con gli ultimi driver non devi nemmeno eliminare i precedenti perché lo script lo fa in automatico quando viene rilanciato.

Grazie ad entrambi sono riuscito finalmente ad installare i moduli necessari.
Ora però ho riscontrato altri problemi con il kernel 2.6.18.2
Il primo è quello cheil mouse non funziona, o meglio ... credo che non venga riconosciuto dal sistema, infatti in fase di accensione quando sta per caricare i moduli (almeno credo che carichi i vari moduli in quel punto) del server audio, quelli per la mappatura della tastiera (qwerty), ed anche i moduli per caricare il mouse installato, in quel punto infatti il kernel 2.6 restitusice vari warring.

Credo che debba attivare i moduli relativi ma non so come fare ... penso al comando mdprobe, ma non so quali moduli aggiungere.
Qualche aiuto sarebbe gradito!

Prova con modprobe psmouse. Attenzione però che sto andando a memoria, non ho slackware sotto al momento.

Ho cercato su internet ed insieme al modulo psmouse bisognava attivare evdev, ora funziona tutto alla perfezione :D

Ora l'unico problema rimasto è quello di fastidiosi warring all'avvio del sistema riguardanti alsactl, ma il server audio è a posto, non riesco a capire perchè mi dia quei messaggi di errore :\

Risolto anche quest'ultimo problema :D
In pratica dovevo aggiustare il file asound.state in etc era quello che mi dava problemi :P
