Cercando un po' nel forum ho provato a configurare X con i driver Radeon OpenSource.
Il fine di tutto ciò è far funzionare compiz Sulla Slackware 12

Questo è l'XORG
Parlo di un portatile con una ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M

A questo punto X si avvia, l'accelerazione sembra funzionare.

Se provo ad avviare compiz da uno script contenente

...e qui penso stia il problema...

mmmm forse è una spiegazione un pò a ca**o ma hai provato ad installare il pacchetto dei driver radeon per xorg contenuto nella directory extrA??

Ho provato, con il risultato di aver peggiorato i caratteri..

P.s. Ho provato ad installare i driver ATI proprietari ottenendo un sistema molto più "snello", e con un accelerazione HW più che doppia

contro i 1500 attuali, però con quelli si presenta lo stesso problema con AIGLX

Mi sa' che ho una brutta notizia per te (e anche per me...).
I driver opensource non vanno con quella scheda video.
Io avevo provato a installarli. Tutto era andato ok ma dava:

L'unica possibilita' per usare compiz mi sa' che e' installare fglrx e installare xgl.
fglrx e aiglx non vanno d'accordo.
Solo che compilare xgl e le sue dipendenze mi sa' che non e' una passeggiata.
Terminato il periodo di esami comunque ci provo.

Se riesci in qualunque modo a far girare compiz fammi sapere. Interessa molto anche a me.

Ok, lo sospettavo dal momento che avevo intravisto in qualche man page che supportava tipo il 2D. Comunque fglrx funziona alla perfezione gli ultimi driver sono molto buoni e aumentano notevolmente l'accelerazione 3D rispetto alle versioni precedenti, ora che so dove andare a sbattere ci proverò..
