 Questo è il mio primo messaggio di aiuto su questo sito.
 
 Sto usando o almeno cercando di usare una slack 10.
 Ho però un problema con cups.
 Ho già letto i vari messaggi riguardo a questo argomento (magari qualcuno mi è sfuggito).
 Quando mi connetto a localhost:631 non ho nessuna risposta pur avendo installato cups, avendolo attivato e reso eseguibile.
 Ho provato anche a disinstallare il pacchetto e reinstallarlo ma il risultato non cambia.
 Quando stoppo e riavvio cups con /etc/rc.d/rc.cups start e stop o viceversa non mi si presenta alcun messaggio indice che il comando è stato accettato (credo)
 
 Ho provato anche a usare cupsd e mi risponde:
 
 cupsd: Child exited with status 98!
 
 Nella gestione stampanti di kde se uso cups si blocca tutto
 
 Se riavvio cups con restart mi dice:
 
 cups: restarted scheduler.
 
 In breve non riesco a connettermi alla porta 631
 
 Non so più che fare !!!!

Prova a controllare /etc/cups/cupsd.conf
 e accertati che ci sia una e una sola riga del tipo
 Port 631. Se ne hai per qualche motivo un´altra
 come Listen 192.168.100:631 toglila.
 comunque posta il file in questione che ci diamo un´occhiata...

 Siccome mi son venuti n-mila dubbi quali sarebbero i servizi che dovrebbero essere partiti per far si che tutto funzioni?
 
 e soprattutto chmod a-x serve per disattivarli ?
 
 e ancora per renderli attivabili all´avvio uso chmod 755?

Boh... cupsd.conf è perfettamente in ordine
 Controlla con netstat -l che non ci siano altri servizi
 in ascolto sulla porta 631. Potrebbe essere

Ulteriore sviluppo:
 
 se mi connetto sull´indirizzo <a href="http://localhost:631/admin" target="_blank" target="_new">http://localhost:631/admin</a> mi viene chiesta la password di root
 
 (cosa buona e giusta) ma poi continua a pensare ai fatti suoi

E ancora
 
 Hoa aggiunto localhost nel file cupsd.conf oltre alle righe

 ora mi apre la pagina principale sulla porta 631 ma non mi fa accedere alle altre pagine come manage printers e vicine

credo di aver capito dove è il problema:
 
 io mi collego alla pagina incriminata; se non ci riesco faccio un restart di rc.cups e mi fa andare avanti di una pagina poi si blocca.
 Io metto il nome della mia stampante e si riblocca.
 Restart rc.cups
 il browser mi dice che il documento non contiene data, io gli dico continue, vado nella pagina seguente e cosi via a ristartare rc.cups a ogni pagina.
