experimental CONFIG_PATA_MARVELL

The kernels were recompiled to add the experimental CONFIG_PATA_MARVELL option,
since some newer Intel motherboards are already using this chipset. Like
everything else, use it at your own risk. It was decided that having some
driver that was tested and found to work was better than no support at all.
Possibile che Pat inserisca un 'experimental' soprattutto in una rc, e specialmente nel kernel?
Idem quel 'use it at your own risk'... magari aiutatemi ad interpretarlo correttamente.

Se non ricordo male, diverse opzioni del kernel sono flaggate "experimental"
e poi sono assolutamente consigliate (e settate di default nei config di Pat)...

Non mi trova completamente daccordo, a meno che non l'abbia compilato come modulo.
Però scriverci esplicitamente 'experimental'...

con quell'"it was decided" penso si intenda che una discussione al riguardo ci sia gia' stata.
comunque penso che i passaggi logici siano:
- se non hai quel tipo di hardware, anche se il driver e' compilato staticamente nel kernel, non vedrai alcuna differenza.
- se invece ce l'hai, anche se e' experimental, almeno vedi i dischi

Anche iwlwifi è experimental, cosa fai? non metti il supporto al wireless per le schede intel?
"Purtroppo" a volte bisogna mettere qualcosa di experimental se fa riferimento ad hw molto utilizzato
