[RISOLTO] Problemi con la stampante Epson EPL-5900L

Ciao a tutti,
uso Slackware 12.2 e non riesco a stampare con la stampante Epson EPL-5900L. Ho installato tutti i driver più recenti, ma non funziona. CUPS riconosce la stampante, ma al momento di stampare una pagina di prova non si muove. Questi sono i pacchetti che ho installato (scaricati da qui: http://www.linuxprinting.org/download/foomatic):

Ho notato questi due errori:

Ma anche le righe poco più sopra di queste due evidenziano dei problemi, anche se non sono righe di errore.
Questa stampante funzionava benissimo fino alla Slackware 11.0, poi, dalla 12.0 in avanti non ha più funzionato (cosa sarà cambiato nel frattempo?). Per fortuna che non stampo molto, infatti fino adesso ho risolto usando la stampante in una virtual machine con Windows XP (un po' per pigrizia, un po' per mancanza di tempo), ma mi piacerebbe risolvere definitivamente il problema senza ricorrere a questo workaround. :thumbright:

Ho provato a dare un'occhiata alle funzionalità della stampante usando il plugin Epson EPL-5x00L IJS, dando questo comando: ijs_server_epsonepl EPL-5900L /dev/usb/lp0.

Si può notare che indica il toner praticamente esaurito, mentre il mio toner è quasi nuovo. Però non è un toner originale Epson, infatti anche su Windows al momento di stampare appare una finestra che avverte che il toner è quasi esaurito, comunque è possibile stampare lo stesso.
Potrebbe essere questo il problema? Se fosse così, c'è qualche modo di fargli capire che il toner è quasi pieno?

Lo so, infatti il pacchetto epsoneplijs-0.4.1.tgz l'ho scaricato proprio da lì, anche se nel mio primo post non l'ho specificato. Infatti il comando ijs_server_epsonepl EPL-5900L /dev/usb/lp0 funziona grazie al pacchetto epsoneplijs.
Comunque ti ringrazio.
Proverò a fare altre prove e spero di risolvere.

Riassumo i progressi fatti.

Prima di tutto, avevo notato che CUPS non mi trovava la stampante se usavo la funzione "Find New Printers" nella scheda Administration. Poco male, perchè gli davo il PPD giusto, però ho notato che l'installazione del pacchetto epsoneplijs, nonostante non mi abbia dato alcun errore, non copiava i file *.ppd e *.xml nelle directory di foomatic e cups. Ora quando scelgo "Find New Printer" mi rileva questa stampante: EPSON EPL-5900L (EPSON EPL-5900L USB #1). Ho anche risolto il problema dei filtri foomatic, che generava questi errori:

Infatti, nonostante abbia nel path di .bashrc la directory /usr/local/bin, dove risiede il programma ijs_server_epsonepl, il comando non veniva trovato, così l'ho copiato in /usr/bin. Ora nell'Error Log di CUPS non ci sono più errori, però continua a non stampare.
Se provo a stampare una pagina di prova, viene indicato questo nel pannello Printers:

Se adesso provo a dare il comando ijs_server_epsonepl EPL-5900L /dev/usb/lp0, ottengo questo output:

E questo succede anche se riavvio CUPS. Finchè non spengo e riaccendo la stampante, ijs_server_epsonepl indica che la stampante è occupata.
Qualche idea di dove risieda il problema?

FUNZIONA!!!!

Quando andavo su "Find New Printers", CUPS rilevava un URI sbagliato (usb://EPSON/EPL-5900L). Ho dovuto metterlo manualmente, questo è l'URI corretto: parallel:/dev/usb/lp0, come spiegato in questo sito: http://www.openprinting.org/show_printe ... -EPL-5900L.
