Driver Nvidia e Kde

Ciao, come da titolo ho un problema con l' installazione dei suddetti driver:
non riesco ad usare kde nè con gli ultimissimi driver (180.29), nè con i precedenti (180.22).
Venendo al sodo, se installo tali driver mi compare, in una finestrella, una scritta circa kdeinit (impossibile avviarlo,controllare l'installazione) e dcopserver (impossibile leggerlo).
Ho provveduto a cancellare sia i files che le directory in /tmp e /home/* ma...niente.
Se uso fluxbox o xfce "quasi" tutto perfetto ("quasi": dando glxgears le prestazione scendono di circa il 40%).
L' inconveniente si manifesta con Slackware 12.2 (sia con kde3.5.10 sia con kde4.2) ma anche con BlueWhite 12.2 (medesimi DE); con il kernel 2.6.28.x i 180.22 non compilavano.
La cosa strana -per me- è che se li installo facendo girare kde4.2 vedo alcune finestre di notifica tipo "akonadi" ed altre ma di K....nessuna traccia.
Ieri ho raso al suolo la partizione di BW64 per fare posto a Debian5, scarico ed installo gli utimi driver....tutto perfetto. Si lo so, su Debian ho Gnome ma mi girano lo stesso!!!

Comunque è normale che con glxgears le prestazioni calino!

I logs di xorg in un momento di frustrazione li ho cancellati! Comunque a memoria e per quelle che sono le mie competenze, non mi sono sembrati illuminanti.
Riguardo glxgears: il calo è normale in quanto imputabile alla configurazione di fluxbox e xfce e/o alla mancata ottimizzazione di xorg.conf?
Ricordo che con i 177.82 (quelli che uso attualmente) e kde3 i fps(?) si aggiravano sui ~1700, con i drivers incriminati e flux o xfce ~1100.
Vedendo i numerosi bugfix dei 180.29 pensavo fosse un problema di driver, quindi tutto speranzoso scaricai ed installai ma...stesso problema.
Per mancanza di tempo tornai ai 177.82 dimenticandomi del problema; ora dopo aver installato debian e gli utimi driver nvidia la lingua torna a battere li'!!!

fai una prova: prova a passare l'opzione aggiuntiva nopat alla linea di boot del tuo kernel, lo puoi fare al volo al boot, sia su grub (premi e) che su lilo (digiti "Linux nopat", ammesso che Linux sia il nome del tuo kernel nel lilo.conf).

Allora...ho provato a reinstallare i drivers 180.29 passando l' opzione nopat al grub, risultato: solito problema con kdeinit (check your installation!) e dcopserver (impossibile leggere tale file nella home).
Dovresti fornirci l'errore preciso che ti dà tramite il log...
Ora posterei volentieri il file di log ma vedendo l' anteprima di questo messaggio sarebbe molto antipatico "scrollare" per km; come posso inserirlo in una finestrella?

Per capire se la colpa è dei driver proprietari o magari di qualcosa di misterioso che è successo al tuo sistema, modifica xorg.conf per usare i driver "nv" e prova ad avviare kdm (anche se hai il 4.2, tanto disabilita da solo gli effetti di composite). Se funziona diamo la colpa ai driver, altrimenti dobbiamo guardare altrove. Anche perchè se girano XFCE e Fluxbox non sembra tanto colpa di NVidia

I 180.29 dovrebbero compilare su qualsiasi kernel, assicurati che /usr/src/linux punti alla directory con il kernel che usi _TU_ perchè Slackware 12.2 installa il 2.6.27.7 di default (e quindi installa i sorgenti di quello), mentre nel tuo primo posto parli di .28.x (comunque io li ho compilati anche su quelli, quindi non è problema dei driver, e se non ricordo male anche sui .29.rc )

Con i driver che ho installati ora (177.82) X funziona sia per kde3 che per kde4 (quest' ultimo lo avevo installato solo per capire se fosse colpa di kde3 o altro, ora sono tornato "stabilmente" a kde3).
Quindi...tutto farebbe pensare a dei problemi di driver per la mia scheda (nonostante i numerosi bugfix), la mia curiosità scaturisce dal fatto che, girovagando in internet, io sia l' unico a cui questo capiti.

Si, i 180.29 compilano, ma danno il medesimo errore.
Ho compilato il 2.6.28.x solo per provare, ma il problema è indipendente dal kernel, comunque per ridurre il numero di variabili sono tornato al kernel di default.
Ora sono su Debian, appena ritorno su Slack compilo il 2.6.28.7 e vedo che succede.
Oggi è una splendida giornata, punto tutto sulla possibilità di avere kde3 metereopatico!!!

PS: permettetemi una domanda stupida (sono i miei primi messaggi sul forum): come faccio ad inserire il log di xorg non a pagina intera? Lo so, non sono stato chiaro! Allora...vorrei inserire il log in una finestrella a scorrimento nel mio messaggio.

Molte grazie JohnnyMnemonic; lo utilizzai tempo fa per evidenziare comandi e stupidamente sono rimasto convinto che servisse solo per quello.

cosi' non vedi ecentuali errori delle applicazioni ma solo quelli di X.

se vuoi vedere lo standard output delle applicazioni che vengono lanciate dopo X (penso siano quelle che crashano) devi rediregere l'output di startx in un file

il "-- -logverbose 6" serve a dettagliare maggiormente il log di X.

prova anche ad usare fluxbox o windowmaker come window managers (xwmconfig).

Per rimettere KDE 3 come hai fatto? hai usato gli script remove-kde3.sh e remove-kde4.sh per poi installpkg /mnt/slack/......./kde/*.tgz ?
Check your installation significa che c'è qualcosa di sbagliato ma NON nei driver. Tra l'altro, scusa se non l'ho capito, ma con quale versione dei driver NVidia lanci Fluxbox? Installa gli ultimi (180.29), aggiorna xorg.conf e riprova con fluxbox: se funziona allora DI SICURO il tuo problema non è dei driver. Quindi ti riconsiglio di eseguire quei due script di prima e reinstallare i pacchetti di kde3

Io ho la 7100 e mi funzionano, quindi :D Sarà banale, ma mica usi qualche partizione strana?
