Ciao a tutti!
Allora... molti mesi fa ho installato la versione 10.0 di slackware sul mio laptop, adesso mi son rimesso su a cercare di far funzionare il tutto...
Ho pero ancora molti problemi con l audio in quanto non ho idea di come configurare sta benedetta scheda (Realteck AC 97 audio for VIA(R) Audio Controlle, questo [ tutto quello che xp mi dice...). Ho letto un po di how to ma non son riuscito a far nulla... molto probabilmente per colpa delle mie scarse conoscenze....
Infatti ho letto di usare alsamixer che pero mi dice no elements found. In piu ho sempre una finestra di errore sul desktop di KDE che dice "aRts had to restart" e se clicco su ok riconmapare all infinito...

Qualcuno potrebbe aiutarmi in questo problema?

L'unico consiglio che posso darti, ma sappi che non funzionerà perchè sono un niubbo.

Nel file /etc/rc.d/rc.modules ci sono le righe:
Prova a togliere il # alla seconda riga, riavvia, e vedi che succede.

Domanda 1: Perchè l'hai postato qui invece che sotto hardware o laptop?
Domanda 2: Che kernel hai installato?
Domanda3: Cosa ti dice il dmesg e lspci? (ovvero visto che sei noob apri la console e da root dai questi comandi)

Per vedere se il consiglio di Vlk va senza riavviare basta che dai e poi scrivi alsamixer e vedi se riconosce qualcosa.
(non so se questo modulo sia presente anche nel 2.4)

Adesso il pc suona! pero` continuo ad avere il crash del xsoundserver e i messaggi di controllo aRst che mi dicono "aRst had to restart"...

Per sapere il kernel dai un bel uname -a.
fai il modprobe del modulo.
Decomenta la riga che ti ha suggerito vlk (visto che così funziona anche quando riavii) nel r.modules quindi riavvia lo startx (ctrl-alt-backspace). Arts continua ad andare in errore?

adesso l`xsoundserver non mi da piu` errore, ma arts continua senza sosta...
ora con il lettore cd sento i cd, con i comandi da shell sento anche gli mp3 ma solo da shell e non da x...

e poi non so come far andare via sto messaggio di arts che nemmeno so cosa sia...

Arts ri riavvia all'infinito e dopo 10 minuti bloccava il Pc, io però usavo i driver propietari Nvidia.
Poi ho installato alsa in /testing e miracolo l'audio funziona benissimo.

Il tuo Laptop ha il modem integrato, vero?
Allora prova a dare il comando aplay -l dovrebbe darti la lista delle periferiche riconosciute da ALSA. Anche se....

non si riesce a capire se abbia o no il supporto per l'audio.

Nel caso aplay ti indichi 2 device, allora la prima e' il modem, la seconda la scheda audio, pero' alsa come default usa la prima. Io sul mio notebook ho dovuto prima istallare i driver del modem e poi alsa per avere tutto funzionante.
Pero' dovrebbe esserci il modo di dire ad alsa di usare per default la scheda secondaria, ma qui brancolo nel buio, sorry.[/quote]

pero non ne conosco il significato. Vuol mica dire che cerca di far suonare il modem?!?!?!?

Ultimo aggiornamento sul mio problema...
Accendo il pc e faccio startx.... parte tutto e xsoundserver va in crash con il messaggio riportato ad inizio topic.
Tempo 20 secondi e due messaggi uguali mi dicono che arts deve esser riavviato (aRts had to restart). Se clicco ok su questi due messaggi me ne appion altri identici all-infinito.
Con il lettore cd posso ascoltare tranquillamente tutti i cd che voglio. Ma con X non posso ascoltare gli mp3. Questi ultimj pero li posso ascoltare con il comando play sotto shell... mah... non capisco proprio...
Che cavolo e` sto arts?
Alsa, alsamixer, alsaconf.... boh... sto alsa non ne vuole sapere...

Chiunque abbia suggerimenti o opinioni e` ben accetto!

Arts è il server sonoro di Kde lo puoi configurare Nel centro di controllo > suono e multimedia > Sistema Sonoro
