Ho un Acer TravelMate 291 LMi su cui uso, con piena soddfisfazione, una Slack 10.1 con kernel 2.6.10 precompilato, che tento costantemente aggiornata alla current.
Per il chipset Intel Centrino IPW2200 uso i driver messi a disposizione dal ben noto progetto "open" di Intel (all'URL http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net).
Quelli che uso io appartengono alla release 1.0.6.
Ieri mi sono accorto che i driver suddetti erano stati aggiornati alla 1.0.7; bene, noto che fra i requisiti preliminari all'installazione, vi è la necessità di effettuare un upgrade del sottosistema ieee80211 dalla versione 1.0.3 (quella che uso attualmente) alla 1.1.5.
Poco male, mi dico; disinstallo la vecchia versione del subsystem, rimuovo eventuali tracce lasciate qua e là tramite uno script e mi accingo a compilare la versione 1.1.5.
Qui, però, succede, il finimondo; vi riport l'output che mi dà la shell:

La cosa strana è che la versione precedente del subsystem ieee, la 1.0.3, compila perfettamente.
Ho cercato su Google ma non vi è alcun notizia al riguardo; solo due utenti "stranieri", uno che usa la Mandriva e uno che usa la Suse, ne hanno parlato.
Qualcuno ha effettuato l'upgrade sperimentando gli stessi problemi???

Guarda qua:
* Install ieee80211 driver
tar xvfz ieee80211-1.x.tar.gz
make && make install
* Install ipw2200 driver
tar xvfz ipw2200-1.x.tar.gz
make && make install
* Install ipw2200 frimware
tar xvfz ipw2200-fw-1.x.tar.gz
mv *.fw /lib/firmware/
* Insert the module into kernel: modprobe ipw2200

Prova a dare un semplice make come suggerito e dimmi se hai lo stesso problema.

Penso non ci siamo capiti.
Ovviamente, la prima cosa che faccio, dopo aver disinstallato la precedente versione del subsystem ieee, è quella di decomprire il tarball della nuova versione e dare un make, come segnalato nel post più in alto.
E' proprio in quel momento che si verifica la sfilza di errori che è stata riportata.
La precedente versione di ieee compila alla grande.
