iao a tutti....sto cercando di installare RTAI seguendo la guida "step by step" che c'è sul sito... arrivati al punto 6 compilo il kernel (tutto sembra andare a buon fine nonostante quelche warning) e riavvio il computer ma quando scelgo il kernel che ho appena compilato mi appaiono i seguenti errori:

....ti ha risposto il Prof Mantegazza nella mailing list, e volevo risponderti io...ma mi ha preceduto.

Ti suggerisco di prendere il file .config che trovi in boot e provare a compilare il kernel 2.6.17 direttamente con il file .config così copiato. Alla fine provi a vedere se tutto funziona; se si, allora applichi la patch RTAI. Se riesco a finire quello che sto facendo ad un orario "accettabile" allora ti rispondo anche nella mailing list dell'RTAI.

P.S::NON usare il kernel fornito di "serie" dalla Fedora perché così come molti altre distribuzioni tendono a "personalizzare" il medesimo aggiungendo, inoltre, software (moduli) di terze parti. Io sto usando la Slackware per questo con il kernel 2.6.23.
Usa il kernel "Vanilla" di http://www.kernel.org.

P.S.:Io sto usando l'RTAI per la tesi.

ho compilato il kernel dopo aver modificato (ricordo che sono un utente molto inesperto) il file di configurazione (make menuconfig) per quanto riguarda le partizioni dei dischi......il fatto è che ora non vado più in internet....... qualcuno sa il perchè?

...il mio suggerimento è, come ho indicato nella mailing list ( https://mail.rtai.org/pipermail/rtai/20 ... 18358.html ), di scaricare una versione Vanilla del kernel (ad esempio il 2.6.23), prendere il file .config che trovi in /boot e compilare il kernel così com'è SENZA applicare la patch dell'RTAI.

Riavvi la macchina e vedi se tutto ti funziona. Se il tutto è funzionante passi alla seconda "operazione"; applicare la patch RTAI e seguire quanto indicato nel tutorial https://www.rtai.org/RTAILAB/RTAI-Lab-tutorial.pdf ...nelle configurazioni del kernel cambia poco o nulla delle impostazioni, ma limitati soltanto a quelle indicate nel tutorial.

Di nuovo, riavvii la macchina e verifichi il funzionamento. Se tutto funziona "affini" ulteriormente il kernel. In funzione della macchina che hai, ogni passo non dovrebbe levarti più di una 40ina di minuti.....in sostanza nel giro di un paio d'ore dovresti avere una macchina funzionante.

Fai cosi', dopo aver scompattato il kernel, creato il link simbolico al tuo kernel:
1) in console digita da utente "semplice" (in questo modo avrai il file "mioconfig" nella tua home);
2) come root vai nelle dir /usr/src/linux e sposta qui il file "mioconfig" in questo modo 3) dai il make
4) finita la compilazione dai il 5) etc etc etc

In questo modo dovresti avere il nuovo kernel con tutto cio' che avevi configurato nel precedente.
