Driver nVidia; "nv" VS "nouveau"

qualcuno di voi ha mai provati i driver "nouveau" per le schede nVidia?...io pochi minuti fa ho finito di fare le prove e risultati sono stati un po deludenti. Per i driver "nv" il test glxgears ha dato questi risultati;

mentre per i "nouveau" risulta;
...li facevo/credevo un po più performanti rispetto ai driver "nv". 
In più l'occupazione di memoria è "impressionante". A "freddo" (in sostanza l termine del login grafico) con i driver "nv" la memoria occupata è pari a 37MB mentre con i "nouveau" è pari a 103MB nelle stesse condizioni!
Chi di voi ha provato questi driver?
