This is Autopackage, the multi-distribution binary packaging framework for Linux systems.

* Build packages that will install on many different distros
* Multiple front ends: best is automatically chosen so GUI users get a graphical front end, and command line users get a text based interface
* Multiple language support (both in tools and for your own packages)
* Automatically verifies and resolves dependencies no matter how the software was installed. This means you don't have to use Autopackage for all your software, or even any of it, for packages to successfully install.


a me sembra un bel progetto,e tra l'altro potrebbe avvicinare a slackware tutte quelle persone che si lamentano per la mancata gestione delle dipendenze

noooooooo! chi si avvicina a slackware deve capire che il non gestire le dipendenze è un GRAN pregio!

Da "Slackware Linux Essential" (p. 215):

Apparently many people in the Linux community
think that a packager manager must by definition
include dependency tracking. Well, that simply isn't the case,
as Slackware most certainly does not. This is not to say
that Slackware packages don't have dependencies, but rather
that its package manager doesn't check for them.
Dependency management is left up to the sysadmin,
and that's the way we like it.

L'unica cosa interessante è che sono portabili su tutte le distribuzioni. Ma anche per quello si possono trasformare gli rpm in tgz

Io preferisco farmi i pacchetti a mano, come dio Patrick comanda. E risolvermi le dipendenze di conseguenza.
