Question about MPlayer codecs...

I saw today that the MPlayer package is upgraded and build on a Slackware 10.2 system. Which is great!
But I want to ask something about the MPlayer codecs... What are these codecs anyway?
I mean what is included in the package?
I can install separately for example... xvidcore, libquicktime, divx4linux /which is missing here on slacky.it by the way/...
It is said in the description that I can play almost anything with these codecs. Like quicktime. Well how can those codecs do that without libquicktime?! Does it mean that it is included in these MPlayer codecs? And then separate install of xvidcore, divx4linux, libquicktime is not needed?

Hi, non-italian friend!
What kind of codecs do you refer to? The essential ones? You can find them in this repository. They provide the quicktime codec as well.

So it means I don't have to install it separately? Ok, and what about xvidcore, divx4linux?

if u want to know what a package includes, u have just to open a console, cd in the directory where the package we r talking of is, digit "mc" and press enter, move the selection onto the name of the package, press "Enter", wait bit, and then look what the package contains. u'll see the directories of the root tree where the files r going to be put. inside these dirs u'll find, for example, which codecs are going to be installed on ur system.
