Salve,

Risolto: richiesta impossibile - closed source

Enrico,
The controller you have (device id 0x0057) is a software RAID controller
from LSI. The hardware is almost identical to the one that MPTSAS Fusion
driver controls. But this one has a different device ID and supports
RAID 0,1,10 and 5 using software based host driver.
The appropriate driver for this is "megasr". It is a closed source
driver and we supply binaries only for Red Hat and SuSE (both
enterprise) distributions.

Look at the third byte of the config data. If its 0x59, then its uses the megasr device driver, you should contact the megaraid folks because that driver is closed sourced. Their megaraid contact info is in the MAINTAINERS file in the topfolder of the linux kernel.
If the third byte is 0x58, then its owned by the mptsas driver. I posted that support over a year ago. I would be surprised it wasn't detected if your using tip kernel.

Dear Eric,
I'm a linux Italian sysadmin.
Because spam E-mail are increasing everyday I would like to install a
new mail server with slackware 12.0 but I'm not able to boot with my new Intel S5000PSL mainboard with a LSI SAS1064e integrated controller.
You will find any other informations to Intel website at:
http://www.intel.com/support/motherboar ... /index.htm
I was surprised when I boot my slack 12 and it don't recognize sas
controller with 2 sas hard disk in raid1.
So I download Debian and Ubuntu server but I got the same problem.
I spent many days on google to find nothing.
I try to contact LSI to get some informations bot I got no answer.
I found on some discussion group you are a LSI engineer so I'm
contacting you to know if there is a solution.
Thanks in advance for your support.
