Salve, sono un neofita della distrubuzione Linux SLACKWARE 10.1 ed è forse per questo che
<BR>vi sottopongo i seguenti problemi, che qualcuno di voi potrà anche trovare banale.

<BR>All´avvio dell´ambiente GNOME mi compaiono i seguenti messaggi di errore:

<BR>Tra gli effetti dei citati errori c´è il mancato caricamento del set di icone
<BR>del tema scelto: in altre parole comunque si scelga un tema l´apparenza del
<BR>desktop e delle icone nel file browser non cambia, resta un´unica icona per tutti i
<BR>tipi di file, per il cestino e le directories (o directory).
<BR>Poi quando esco dall´ambiente grafico, cioè quando torno alla shell testuale, il mouse mi causa degli strani
<BR>effetti: sembra che impazzisca, evidenziando le prime linee di testo; analogamente il prompt dei comandi, lo
<BR>stesso capita anche all´uscita di KDE.
<BR>Il mouse è di tipo USB con scroller; al file xorg.conf sono state modificate ed aggiunte le seguenti linee:
<BR>Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
<BR>Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
<BR>Option "Emulate 3Buttons" "no"
<BR>
<BR>Non credo che tutto questo sia un problema hardware, in quanto il sistema funziona benissimo sia con SUSE che
<BR>con MANDRAKE, con ambedue gli ambienti grafici (KDE e GNOME)

Regole del forum
1) Citare sempre la versione di Slackware usata, la versione del Kernel e magari anche la versione della libreria coinvolta. Questi dati aiutano le persone che possono rispondere.
2) Per evitare confusione prego inserire in questo forum solo topic che riguardano appunto Slackware, se l'argomento è generale usate il forum Gnu/Linux in genere.
3) Leggere attentamente le risposte ricevute.
4) Scrivere i messaggi con il colore di default, evitare altri colori.
5) Scrivere in Italiano o in Inglese, se possibile grammaticalmente corretto, evitate stili di scrittura poco chiari, quindi nessuna abbreviazione tipo telegramma o scrittura stile SMS o CHAT.
6) Appena registrati è consigliato presentarsi nel forum dedicato.
La non osservanza delle regole porta a provvedimenti di vari tipo da parte dello staff, in particolare la non osservanza della regola 5 porta alla cancellazione del post e alla segnalazione dell'utente. In caso di recidività l'utente rischia il ban temporaneo.

problemi con gnome
Anch´io ho avuto problemi simili con Gnome fornito dalla distro, ho risolto installando Dropline Gnome, la versione di Gnome 2.10 per Slackware. Vai sul sito di Dropline, scarica l´installer e poi provvede a tutto lui. Naturalmente conviene che tu abbia un collegamento a banda larga.

Il problema di Gnome deriva da un´eccezione dell´archittettura CORBA su cui si appoggia;

Ragazzi grazie per i suggerimenti. Ho scaricato DROPLINE (mi è venuta l´orchite perché il collegamento era lento - viaggiava a circa 30 Kb/s), l´installazione è stata di una banalità incredibile, anche se è durata circa mezzora per la mia curiosità di vedere il nuovo GNOMO(E) nel suo pieno splendore. Comunque mi è scomparso il problema di avvio 
, però adesso KDE ha perso la voce :,-( : ci rinuncio per il momento!
<BR>Siccome ho voglia di cambiare i temi standard con quelli che ho trovato su internet (dalle parti di kde-look.org e gnome-look.org), qualcuno di voi può indicarmi il modo corretto per installare i temi e le icone (va bene anche qualche link)? Seguendo la procedura standard la maggior parte non viene installata correttamente!
