Regole del forum
1) Citare sempre la versione di Slackware usata, la versione del Kernel e magari anche la versione della libreria coinvolta. Questi dati aiutano le persone che possono rispondere.
2) Per evitare confusione prego inserire in questo forum solo topic che riguardano appunto Slackware, se l'argomento è generale usate il forum Gnu/Linux in genere.
3) Leggere attentamente le risposte ricevute.
4) Scrivere i messaggi con il colore di default, evitare altri colori.
5) Scrivere in Italiano o in Inglese, se possibile grammaticalmente corretto, evitate stili di scrittura poco chiari, quindi nessuna abbreviazione tipo telegramma o scrittura stile SMS o CHAT.

Ragazzi, come faccio ad aumentare la risoluzione video??
Ora ce l'ho impostata a 1024x768, pero vorreo andare fino a 1280x1024, pero se vado nel centro di controllo di KDE del display mi da come massimo 1024x768...

Beh io non ho messo nessun driver, ho una matrox G400 da 32 mb (ho impostato tutto con xorg.conf), pero su windows gira a 1280x1024!!

Allora, ho fatto alcune piccole correzioni seguendo il mio xorg.conf (Matrox G450) e rimosso qualche commento. Aggiungi/controlla alcune informazioni dove segnalato.
Che monitor hai (marca/modello)?? Le frequenze di refresh sono corrette??
Prova a salvare le righe seguenti in un file di nome xorg.conf e spostalo in /etc/X11. Ovviamente prima ti consiglio un backup dell'attuale xorg.conf in modo che se qualcosa non va ripristini la situazione iniziale. Inoltre, dopo averlo lanciato, puoi postare il contenuto di /var/log/X.0.log?? Data la natura delle modifiche non dovrebbe cambiare niente, ma almeno usiamo un xorg.conf abbastanza pulito e (presumibilmente) corretto.

Potresti con il "nuovo" xorg.conf lanciare startx e poi postare il contenuto di /var/log/X.0.log come avevo scritto?? Dal file di log possiamo vedere quali frequenze e risoluzioni vengono riconosciute per il tuo monitor e poi, se tutto va bene, attraverso l'uso di Modeline passiamo la risoluzione e frequenza che ti interessa. Almeno questo é quello che ho fatto per il mio monitor.
EDIT: ripeto che secondo me l'unico modo serio e sensato di impostare la risoluzione che cerchi é dal file di configurazione xorg.conf. Dal menu OSD del tuo monitor controlli poi che le frequenze rientrino nei valori aspettati.
