problema risoluzione acer AL1916W su 8600gts.
Salve a tutti,sono appena 2 giorni che ho installato slackware 12,e dopo aver risolto i primi problemini (boot,internet) ora non riesco ad impostare la risoluzione 1440x900 per il mio monitor acer AL1916W.Ho una 8600gts come sv con gli ultimi driver nvidia installati,sia dalle impostazioni di kde che da NVIDIA x server settings non riesco a superare 1024x768.

ci sto sbattendo la testa pure io... visto che i driver prioritari o danno crash o sono lenti t consiglio l'uso dei driver open... ma prima da console... ( quindi devi stare tipo in init 3) sotto root dare il comando
è una applicazione grafica (molto basilare) che ti permettera di reimpostare e sagomare il tuo xorg.conf in modo sufficiente per la tua sckeda grafica e il tuo monito poi con i driver open per la tua skeda video e qlk altra smanettata con questo comando il gioco e' fatto

non ho capito,devo disinstallare i driver proprietari,avvio quel programmino aggiungo le risoluzioni e installo i driver open ??

no devi solo smanettare con xorgcfg...
poi l'utilizzo dei driver open (questa è una cosa personale mia) sono per certi versi migliori... pero semplicemente smanettando con quel comando dovresti in parte risolvere i tuoi casini

Per la risoluzione imposta correttamente le frequenze del tuo monitor nel file /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Dovresti avere una sezione "Monitor" come questa
Alcuni nel tuo monitor mettono come HS 30-61, leggi il manuale per questo
Dopodiche cambia la sezione "screen" in questo modo
Dove c'è XX ci metti l'identificazione della sezione Device che ti ha creato il driver Nvidia.
Controlla anche gli altri identificativi. Devono essere coerenti con quello che hai in ServerLayout, solitamente
Se dopo non è perfetta si sistema con una modeline.
Per la risoluzione imposta correttamente le frequenze del tuo monitor nel file /etc/X11/xorg.conf

conraid ma xke pat nn mette uno script che in automatico ti configura xorg per bene....

A volte basta X --configure, altre bisogna lavorarci sopra.
Da quel che ho letto in futuro, quando xorg supporterà Hal senza troppi bug, la cosa sarà molto semplice ed immediata.
Un trucco per tutti.
Se siete nei casini con la configurazione minimale di xorg, lanciate una distribuzione live (backtrack per esempio) e copiate il file xorg.conf da li.
Dopo lo copiate in Slackware e lo sistemate

Io, sebbene abbia impostato la risoluzione 1440x900 nella sezione dedicata alle risoluzioni, quando avvio KDE mi setta la risoluzione 1440x1024 con un conseguente fastidioso scroll verticale del desktop.
Sembrerebbe che KDE non prenda correttamente le risoluzioni da XORG.
Anche se non c'entra molto, il mio monitor è un Philips 190 CW che ha le impostazioni ottimali con una risoluzione 1440x900 e 60 HZ.
