Penna Usb -- dolore incommensurabile..

Ciao a tutti, 
 premetto che sono poko + di un newbie.. ma io sto incontrando un serio
 problema la gestionne della mia penna usb sotto slackware -
 current (ramo 10.1) 
 Vengo subito al dunque.. 
 intanto la mia configurazione hw: 
 scheda madre asus a7v8x con 6 porte usb controller promise sata fast track 376 firewire chipset via

 io ho imputato molte delle mie sventure al fatto che /dev/sdb (nome di
 periferica assegnata ad essa) fosse considerata write-protected cosa
 che nn ho riscontrato se per esempio faccio partire una qualsiasi
 distro live (io ho usato kubuntu 5.04) dove la vedo sprotetta e riesco
 a navigarci dentro 
 
 Non ho nemmeno compilato la parte del kernel in questione alla write
 protect media detection sotto usb nel kernel (2.6.11.9) mentre ho
 inserito staticamente le varie modaità usb (UHCI - OHCI - EHCI) 
 
 qualcuno sa darmi una mano ??

Prova a scrivere: 
 
 dmesg | grep usb 
 
 poi mi pare di aver letto sdb, perche´ hai scritto sbd1?

mi sembra di capire che ci sono dei problemi con la tabella delle
 partizioni... dopo aver inserito la penna lancia "cfdisk /dev/sdb" e
 crea una partizione. il fs + adatto x una pendrive penso sia 0b
 (fat32), quindi formatta la partizione (a esser sinceri non ricordo se
 ce n´è bisogno con il vfat) e rimonta la penna.

forse puoi risolvere cosí (cito useless): 
 
 
 prima di tutto azzera (letteralmente) tutta la penna:
 
 dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda (nota che non è sda1, che è una partizione, ma l´intero device sda)
 
 indi ripartiziona la penna:
 
 cfdisk /dev/sda
 
 e poi formatta le partizioni:
 
 mkfs.msdos -F 32 /dev/sda1 (e eventuali altre)
 
 
 ovviamente se é /dev/sdb metti /dev/sdb
