Aggiornamento Xorg e Compiz/Beryl

Postate qui se avete consigli per migliorare i pacchetti disponibili in questo sito o se avete problemi con installazione, funzionamento o altro.

Aggiornamento Xorg e Compiz/Beryl

Salve a tutti ragazzi, innanzitutto davvero complimenti per questa stupenda comunity, continuate così ;) .

Vi scrivo perchè ho un problema con Compiz e Beryl, probabilmente dovuto alle particolari procedure che ho dovuto seguire riportate qui di seguito ... ma partiamo dall inizio :P .

Ho sul mio pc una distribuzione Backtrack 2 Final che praticamente è una Slackware 11, quindi considerate che sto parlando appunto di una Slack 11 .

Il mio obiettivo era installare compiz o beryl, quindi ho proceduto così :

Prima di tutto, ho rimosso Xorg 6.9 per installare un 7.2 dai packages pinky seguendo questa guida di un mio amico .

Poi ho reinstallato i drivers proprietari della mia ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 e per confermare l'esito positivo della loro installazione posso vedere :

Fatto questo, ho installato beryl e compiz (tanto per provarli entrambi e vedere quale mi piaceva di + ^^) ma ecco i risultati :

che non fa altro che rimuovermi bordi e titlte bars delle finestre senza rimpiazzarli :( .

Evil la risposta su quel forum era per un utente che aveva una scheda video nvidia !!! Quindi elimina dal file di configurazione di X quel:

Probabilmente non risolverà il problema ma e' meglio eliminare quell'opzione dato che tu hai una ati e dato che nvagp fa parte del modulo nvidia !

allora, sono riuscito ad installare beryl tramite altri pacchetti precompilati per Slack 11, ma sono costretto, per evitare di vedere solo un cubo bianco, a lanciarlo così :

che comunque ha uno strano (a dir poco) comportamento, in quanto vedo tutto "spixxellato", tipo http://img116.imageshack.us/my.php?image=oddiocl1.png

Ciao
Anchio da un paio di giorni sto tentando ad installare compiz-fusion sulla backtrack ma fino ad ora niente da fare :( . Però leggendo sul forum di backtrack dicono che per installare compiz bisogna convertire la backtrack nella slack 12 cosi poi si potrebbe installare compiz.

Perchè ha molti tool utili e difficili da reperire riguardanti la sicurezza informatica.

Sarebbe possibile trasferire i programmi dalla backtrack alla slack 12????

Sul difficile da reperire non so, se sono li puoi metterli anche in una slack. Ma la domanda che ti ho fatto era per capire un'altra cosa.
Se usi una distribuzione come backtrack specializzata nel pentest a che ti serve compiz? Solitamente in distribuzioni simili si cerca di ridurre all'osso il consumo di risorse ed utilizzare wm leggeri, quando addirittura non usarli per niente.
Naturalmente non lo dico per criticarti, è solo per capire questo abbinamento che trovo strano. Il tutto IMVHO

ciao a tutti...
per esperienza personale , vi dico che installare beryl su backtrack2 , (ma adesso siamo alla versione 3 , quindi cambia tutto ;) ) , è praticamente impossibile , l' unica come dicono su remote-exploit-forum è convertirla in slackware , ma ci sarebbero comunque dei cambiamenti.

ora con la versione 3 della backtrack , si ha compiz , da live e tramite installazione su usb , con livechange , si può ottenere il risultato desiderato.
