Allora o compiliamo bbswitch a mano per il kernel lts o usiamo bbswitch-dkms.

Lasciami il tempo di fare ordine, e nel mentre fissiamo un paio di punti:

1 - kernel lts: facciamo il boot sempre da questo kernel, ok?

2 - target grafico senza display manager - niente xdm, lxdm, kdm, slim, etc;

3 - login nella tty1 e startx.

Tu nel frattempo, se non l'hai già fatto, t'installi 'linux-lts-headers' e i pacchetti del gruppo base-devel.

Per l'ultimo il comando dovrebbe essere:

Scaricati questo https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/bb/b ... kms.tar.gz, scompattalo con tar xvf ed entra nella directory ./bbswitch-dkms.
Poi dai - mi raccomando, sempre da utente normale:

Controlla l'output e in caso di errore incolla.

Appena il pacchetto è pronto installalo con

Anche qui controlla l'output: dovresti vedere messaggi relativi all'installazione e compilazione del modulo bbswitch.

nvidia. nvidia-lts è il nome del pacchetto. Comunque lascialo vuoto, non credo sia lì il problema.

durante il boot il font si è rimpicciolito notevolmente, e credo che non sia quello che avevo impostato io. Per il resto mi sembra tutto uguale.

Ok, penso allora che grub vada configurato in quel modo. Il fatto che il font venga rimpicciolito è segno che la risoluzione video è più alta, e così dovrebbe essere. In sostanza con qual 'text' al posto di 'keep' si fa in modo che grub non passi al kernel la risoluzione video utilizzata per il menu grafico. Durante il boot sarà poi il driver intel a fare tutto.


Quanto a tutto il resto, abbiamo soltanto un'ultima possibilità prima di dare forfait: provare coi nouveau per escludere eventualmente un problema dei driver nvidia. Atro non mi viene in mente. Tu hai detto che hai già provato. Nel caso linka il post.
Diversamente:
disinstalla nvidia e nvidia-lts;
Installa xf86-video-nouveau e nouveau-dri, riavvia e prova incollando gli stessi log di prima.

EDIT:
No, aspetta un momento: nouveau lasciamolo in standby. Per ora non toccare nulla e ti dico nel prossimo post.

Allora, come detto sopra non toccare nulla riguardo a nvidia/nvidia-lts e prova questi passaggi:

1 - disabilita il servizio bumblebeed
