La sessione non termina correttamente

Se avete problemi con l'installazione e la configurazione di Slackware postate qui. Non usate questo forum per argomenti generali... per quelli usate Gnu/Linux in genere.

Regole del forum
1) Citare sempre la versione di Slackware usata, la versione del Kernel e magari anche la versione della libreria coinvolta. Questi dati aiutano le persone che possono rispondere.
2) Per evitare confusione prego inserire in questo forum solo topic che riguardano appunto Slackware, se l'argomento è generale usate il forum Gnu/Linux in genere.
3) Leggere attentamente le risposte ricevute.
4) Scrivere i messaggi con il colore di default, evitare altri colori.
5) Scrivere in Italiano o in Inglese, se possibile grammaticalmente corretto, evitate stili di scrittura poco chiari, quindi nessuna abbreviazione tipo telegramma o scrittura stile SMS o CHAT.
6) Appena registrati è consigliato presentarsi nel forum dedicato.

La non osservanza delle regole porta a provvedimenti di vari tipo da parte dello staff, in particolare la non osservanza della regola 5 porta alla cancellazione del post e alla segnalazione dell'utente. In caso di recidività l'utente rischia il ban temporaneo.

Dunque, dopo un periodo passato in clinica per curare il mio nervoso che mi sono procurato con slackware 10.2 (ammetto che ho poco da protestare in quanto non all'altezza della missione 'Usa Linux', ma se l'uomo è andato sulla luna... lo so cosa state pensando: una scimmia non può usare linux !! Ok, questa è cattivaria pura !! :cry: ) ho deciso con molta pazienza (e Dio mi è testimone) di installare slack 11. L'installazione è semplicissima e se ve lo dico io mi dovete credere ma come al solito mi sembra che qualcosa non funzioni. E infatti anche questa volta il mio sesto senso non sbagliava. Installo OpenOffice scaricato da codesto sito (OTTIMO !!) compio qualche operazione "avanzata" (configuro il server sonoro) e incurante dello stupore del mio gatto mando atun per vedere un video. Sembra tutto ok. Compiaciuto di quanto ottenuto e in un mare di sudore, secondo solo a quello versato da Cruise in M.I., decido di terminare la sessione e ... ta-taa BUIO rimane il puntatore del mouse e le lacrime per aver fallito nell'ennesima missione 'Usa Linux'. Sareste così gentili da aiutarmi a scrivere un epilogo meno amaro ? Ve ne supplico non so come approcciare questo sistema operativo. :cry:

Come termini la sessione? Ovviamente sessione X...
Con che DM? Dicci qualcosa in più sul problema,

io ho ogni tanto lo stesso problema con la 10.2!!!
non mi capita sempre, ma ogni tanto mi fa questo lavoro, non sono ancora riuscito a capire il problema...comunque
per caso fai partire il istema automaticamente con init 4? (interfaccia grafica?)
o arrivi al prompt e la fai partire a manina? :P

fino a poco tempo fa, quando dava anche a me questo problema arrivavo al prompt e dopo aver fatto il ligin lanciavo init 4 se allo shutdown mi cpaitava tale problema accedevo ad un altro console, ctrl + alt +f2 e poi premevo control+alt+canc che faceva proseguire lo shutdown!

da quando invece di far partire init 4 uso startx il problema sembra risolto!

non so quanto ti sono stato utile... ;)

Sono per le cose manuali di conseguenza faccio partire a mano X.
Non so quali info fornirvi perchè non faccio nulla di particolare: decido di terminare la sessione e anziché giungere al prompt per fare shutdown -h now rimane la schermata buia con la freccia del mouse. Non posso fare altro che spegnere. :cry:
N.B. se può esservi di aiuto, l'unico "intervento" da me effettuato è stata l'installazione di OpenOffice ma non riesco ad immaginare alcun nesso.

Ho appena cominciato con Slackware comunque spero di esserti d'aiuto. Prova ad editare il file /etc/inittab e
modificare la sezione:

praticante tu avvi fai il login e dai startx poi quando devi chiudere vai al menuK su termina la sessione e ti resta nero con il puntatore del mouse giusto? se è così potrebbe anche essere un prob di driver video quindi dacci qualke informazione sulla skeda cipset che kernel usi ecc

Rispondo prima a Daniele86. Ho fatto come mi hai detto ma il problema persiste e ad ogni modo non voglio partire con X (sto cercando di scappare da windows per non farmi trattare come un babbeo, accettando tutto ciò che il s.o. mi presenta e sarebbe sciocco migrare verso un altro per continuare a fare la figura del fesso :( anche e soprattutto perchè vorrei valutare la possibilità di introdurre seriamente linux/BSD o altro sistema UNIX-like nel mio ufficio. A proposito se conoscete un sito al quale mi posso rivolgere per programmi gestionali di contabilità, paghe e contributi etc ... ve ne sarei grato :) )
Ora, caro Alvaro hai centrato il problema. Il mio hardware è semplicissimo, niente di esotico.
motherboard: ASUS A8N-Sli chipset NVIDIA nForce 4 Sli
kernel: 2.4.33 (credo, comunque è quello di default presente in slackware 11 sata.i )
scheda video: ATI X700 256 Mb driver ATI 8.29.6 (installato con l'installer)
scheda audio integrata: realtek ALC850 8-channel
memoria: 1Gb pc-3200 Kingmax
Mi sembra non ci sia altro di importante.

Quando si blocca prova a premere ctrl+alt+backspace così dovresti killare x e tornare al terminale, almeno non spegni brutalmente...

all'installazione dei driver è andato tutto a buon fine? se si potresti postare il tuo file xorg.conf comunque la soluzione di Dani potrebbe aiutarti a capire praticamente quando si impalla e resta nero forzando con ctrl+alt+backspace se torna alla modalità testo potresti leggere qulake errore che potrebbe aiutare a capire

se con ctrl+alt+backspace nn riesce a terminare per leggere qualke errore l'unica cosa che mi viene da consigliarti è di provare un altra versione dei driver visto che xorg.conf è quello di default e nn vedo errori comunque di consiglio un altra cosa giusto per provare al login fai X -configure che ti crea un file xorg.conf.new prova a partire con quello e fare termina sessione almeno accertiamo che nn è un prob di xorg

Problema risolto !!!
Ho installato i nuovi driver 8.31 bla-bla (oltre a tutta la slack :cry: )
