Ati X1600 pro , kernel 2.6.19 e basse prestazioni

Dopo fatiche erculee per un novellino come il sottoscritto per far funzionare gli ultimi driver ati (8.31.5) per la mia Ati sapphire x1600 pro 256mb agp, e' arrivata la beffa...

ricordo che con la mia vecchia geforce fx 5700 ottenevo risultati mooooooooolto piu alti di questi, o perlomeno decenti!

(ps. alcune opzioni le ho aggiunte manualmente, ottenendo un incremento in glxgears di 400fps! ma sono comunque POCHISSIMI!!!)

Se serve qualche altro output ditemi pure, sono niebbo ma determinato :D

Scusa ma sei sicuro di non avere qualche applicazione/demone in background mentre fai il test?

Ad esempio, con il mio portatile (X700 mobile su SLAMD64, 1024x768, kern 2.6.19.1) guarda cosa succede con boinc attivo:

Insomma: il glxgears cambia PIU' che sensibilmente! (immagino che non sia cosi' per il fgl_glxgears perche' probabilmente questo fa fare quasi tutto alla scheda grafica).

Altra cosa: hai rifatto l'xorg.conf con "aticonfig --initial"?

MIA CURIOSITA': i nomi delle section sono case insensitive? (io ho "DRI" invece che "dri", ma immagino di si', altrimenti non avresti potuto usare gli fgl* con quell'utente)

Allora... Nessuna applicazione in background, ne ridotti a icona nella barra, per i demoni si ne ho qualcuno attivo, ma anche fermandoli la situazione non cambia.

Si, ho rifatto xorg.conf con aticonfig, poi da quel .conf ho aggiunto alcune linee (es: nella sezione devices oltre al driver e all'identifier non mi aveva scritto nulla)

non so se i nomi delle section sono case insensitive :|

altro problema: volevo incollare il mio dmesg perche' durante il boot leggo che agpgart apre a 64mb, riconosce il mio chipset via, ma non dice nulla a proposito della mia ati... centra qualcosa?

dico "volevo" perche' quando do dmesg sulla console mi esce una sfilza di :

Ho paura di aver fatto qualche cacchiata durante la ricompilazione del kernel... (ho avuto problemi a far funzionare questa stramaledettissima scheda audio integrata, ricompilando ho risolto) Eppure sono partito dal config generic di pat propio per evitare dimenticanze o cose strane abilitate....

altra cosa: ho fatto l'update con swaret, ed oltre ad essersi "mangiato" libpangocairo , da kde non mi apre piu' system:/media...


Scusate la confusione, ma ne approfitto per dirvi tutto quel che c'e' di storto, magari e' tutto collegato.

Celho fatta! ora i giochi non scattano piu, ed il cubo gira veloce e senza rallentamenti.
Non chiedetemi perche' , ma i valori di glxgears e fgl_glxgears non e' che siano aumentati tantissimo, pero' ora tutto fila liscio quando provo a lanciare un gioco tipo ut2004 (che prima andava praticamente a diapositive...)

Allora, come ho fatto a risolvere sinceramente, non ve lo so spiegare con molta chiarezza..
Inanzitutto ho letto e riletto le faq ati gentoo in italiano che mi ha linkato spina in un pm,
http://www.gentoo.it/doc/ati-radeon-faq.html non sono aggiornate ai driver 8.31.5 ma dicono quel che devono dire. Soprattutto i moduli che vanno compilati e non nel kernel.
Da qui ne ho approfittato per eliminare quell'errore che mi riempiva il log di xorg,
Intel ISA PCIC probe: not found. che era dovuto a dei moduli pcmpci se nn ricordo male come si scrive.
Avendo ricompilato il kernel ho dovuto reinstallare i driver da capo, ho installato i driver con l'installer della ati dando pero' XVERSION=x690 prima di ./ati-eccecc... non so per quale motivo ma anche se il programma riconosceva la versione di xorg alla fine dell'installazione mi dava come se avessi compilato per un 6.8.0 e mi rilevava 7.0.0 O_O, vabbe, stranezze.
vado dentro /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod , do le 3 patch sed che stanno scritte nel post di spina sul 2.6.19 (basta cercare ATI su search del forum) e anche qua do XVERSION=X690 prima di sh make.sh.
Idem con ./make_installsh, torno utente, su - , aticonfig --initial et voila', riavvio
x e tutto splende in fgl_glxgears :D
