sicuro che con

make oldconfig non funziona ancora?

strano eppure... io gli faccio fare prepare_modules che esegue prepare e scripts ... deve andare

infatti i file "are missing" esistono!

non è importante infatti nel pacchetto di pat 2.6.21.3 della current non c'è ... quindi non è neanche quello

con quale versione dei pacchetti di pat hai provato?!?! forse è la versione del kernel che non è compatibile con il vecchio installer nvidia per le schede vecchie

non sò più che pensare

se hai usato i pacchetti di pat del 2.6.17.13 forse ho capito! è il file config.h che è deprecato dal 2.6.19 ... se è quello posso facilmente risolvere...

insomma che versione di pat hai usato per fare i test?

Allora.......ho tolto i tuoi pacchetti e reinstallato il kernel del grande Pat,comunque anche con altri pacchetti .tgz del kernel 2.6.15.3 e 2.6.16.24 che ho trovato in rete non ho mai avuto problemi,e come sempre tutto funge a meraviglia, ti posto il file così che potrai capire dov'è l'errore nei pacchetti di kernelpkg, speriamo che un giorno potrò installare anche i tuoi senza problemi..........

l'errore lo già spiegato nel dettaglio nel mio post ad inizio pagina... non stà nel mio script ma in un incompatibilità tra il kernel linux >= 2.6.19 e il vecchio installer nvidia... ecco perchè con quelli di pat funziona... sono del 2.6.17.13... infatti con la current che usa 2.6.21.3 e il vecchio installer nvidia avresti avuto gli stessi problemi

i pacchetti ora hanno l'autodetect ... quindi puoi metterli anche sul pc principale dove usi grub..... però aspetta fai una prova... mi sà che non aggiornerà grub... forse ho fatto un errorino nel detect... diciamo che non è proprio un errore ma in un caso particolare (che non è il tuo) potrebbe non aggiornare il bootloader... ci devo pensare... comunque provalo senza timore

Okay.........finalmente ha FUNZIONATO !!!

................però ora mi succede una cosa strana..........cioè non riesco più a loggarmi come utente, mi da un errore tipo directory home spazio esaurito.......

..................è anche vero che sul vecchio pc gioco sul poco spazio che mi rimane nel disco.......però la cosa è strana.......perchè anche se elimino pacchetti per fare spazio..........quando do il comando df -h mi da sempre spazio utilizzato 100%...........mah!!!.........comunque io non ho creato una partizione per la home utilizzo le classiche due : swap + /.........non capisco perchè quindi kde non riesca ad avviarsi??? mentre invece loggandomi da root tutto funziona.........boh???

Mi sa che ti ho trovato un'altro bug!!!....spero di no però prima non mi aveva mai dato questo problema

comunque, ora finalmente i driver funzionano perfettamente!!! Per quanto riguarda la possibilità di installare i pacchetti di kernelpkg sul pc principale, quello che mi preme sapere è che quando cerca di scrivere il bootloader non mi crei problemi, perchè grub posso benissimo modificarlo a mano per lanciare il nuovo kernel.

il problema che descrivi non c'entra nulla con kernelpkg

perchè dovrebbe creare problemi?!!? funziona... semplicemente rileverà grub e agirà di conseguenza... sempre che tu abbia grub installato su MBR del disco perchè la modalità detect supporta questo.

Un'altra cosa volevo chiedere, se decido di compilare un nuovo kernel a manina

........senza utilizzare l'initrd, perchè non vorrei sovrascrivere l'initrd dell'altro kernel funzionante, dovrei mettere built-in tipo di filesystem di root e chip controller hd scheda madre..........okay...........ma dove? e in quale sezione , presumo, del file .config trovo questi parametri da modificare?
Perchè, sinceramente, così come finora ho sperimentato i pacchetti di kernelpkg ora vorrei provare a compilarmelo da solo un kernel.........quindi.........qualche chiarimento su questo punto mi sarebbe utile per portare a termine l'operazione

il fatto di non fare l'initrd non ha un nesso con la sovrascrittura di quello che c'è già... basta darli un nome diverso... se invece intendi usare kernelpkg l'initrd non è supportato al momento... perchè farlo in via automatica non è facile...e ci sto lavorando ancora... oltre al fatto che se ricompili il kernel è alquanto inutile visto che come hai detto e come c'è scritto sul man basta mettere built-in chip e fs.

le due cose da mettere built-in certamente le trovi nella configurazione del kernel... per vedere meglio dove... cerca sul wiki di slacky e nei doc aggiuntivi di kernelpkg.... come è sempre indicato nel man

insomma leggi il man

grazie dei test che hai fatto e del tempo che hai impiegato per kernelpkg e per il suo miglioramento

p.s.: se parti dal mio config ho già messo tutto l'occorrente built-in

Okay.....farò così...........e che sto cercando di imparare.....quindi ho anche la curiosità di provare a compilarmelo da solo un kernel, però poichè già mi è successo di installare un nuovo kernel e poi il vecchio non mi partiva.preferisco provare a farlo senza toccare l'initrd

Quindi ora mi studio meglio la cosa.......per quanto riguarda i test...........no problem......................spero di aver contribuito a migliorare il tuo lavoro
