Compiz su Slackware 12.0

Se avete problemi con l'installazione e la configurazione di Slackware postate qui. Non usate questo forum per argomenti generali... per quelli usate Gnu/Linux in genere.

Regole del forum
1) Citare sempre la versione di Slackware usata, la versione del Kernel e magari anche la versione della libreria coinvolta. Questi dati aiutano le persone che possono rispondere.
2) Per evitare confusione prego inserire in questo forum solo topic che riguardano appunto Slackware, se l'argomento è generale usate il forum Gnu/Linux in genere.
3) Leggere attentamente le risposte ricevute.
4) Scrivere i messaggi con il colore di default, evitare altri colori.
5) Scrivere in Italiano o in Inglese, se possibile grammaticalmente corretto, evitate stili di scrittura poco chiari, quindi nessuna abbreviazione tipo telegramma o scrittura stile SMS o CHAT.

La non osservanza delle regole porta a provvedimenti di vari tipo da parte dello staff, in particolare la non osservanza della regola 5 porta alla cancellazione del post e alla segnalazione dell'utente. In caso di recidività l'utente rischia il ban temporaneo.

Chiedevo conferma a John-Cena, dato che anche a lui il comando glxinfo | grep rendering ha restituito direct rendering: No.
Volevo capire se il direct rendering fosse indispensabile per il funzionamento di Compiz.
Per il resto, credo che farò i primi esperimenti, se avrò tempo, questo weekend. Se riesco a far funzionare Compiz sulla SiS ti avvertirò "urgentemente". ;)

Io ho seguito i vostri passi, ma mi ritrovo ad avere gli effetti funzionanti senza il bordo delle finestre!
Qualcuno sa come fare? Non riesco a ingrandirle/ridurle.

Ho una Nvidia Geforce 6200 :oops:

dicci se riesci a trascinare le finestre col mouse premendo alt sulla bordo in alto della finestra (non deve essere ingrandita), se riesci vuol dire che compiz funziona ma cè qualche problema coi settaggi

se riesci a trascinare le finestre aggiungi ad xorg.conf nella sezione della tua scheda video la seguente opzione:

Grazie!!! Ora funziona!
Lo switch dei Desktops funziona, ma devo avere per forza attive le anteprime dei desktop su Kicker.
C'è un comando per attivare il cubo anche senza avere le anteprime dei desktop sulla barra?

anche io ho attivato compiz nudo e crudo sulla 12-scheda nvidia 7300 gs - ma venendo da beryl installato su slack-11 è un passo indietro di 7 mesi .

Ciao a tutti volevo sapere come potevo far funzionare compiz nel senso come lanciarlo come poter vedere i vari effetti grafici etc,etc,, ho una slack 12 fresca fresca, ati radeon 9600 con supporto 3D perfettamente funzionante, ho provato a modificare lo xorg.conf come da vostripost ma poi non so come porseguire mi dareste una mano questo è il mio xorg.conf, ci date un occhiata se è ok per poter utilizzare compiz:

se non ho letto male tu usi i driver proprietari...

non sono sicuro che compiz funzioni sui driver proprietari... ti conviene controllare se riesci ad avere l'accellerazione 3D con i driver open e usare quelli...
Per quanto riguarda attivare compiz all'inizio del thread c'è un post con tutte le indicazioni necessarie...

A presto, e posta se hai qualche dubbio...

Scusami e dove li prendo i driver open per ati??, eppure l accelerazione 3d è perfettamente funzionante ,ma secondo voi il xorg cosi configurato va bene per compiz?, come lo lancio come faccio a vedere i vari effetti....
