Dear nvnews forum users,
We are aware that many Linux users are having performance problems with 2D rendering on the GeForce 8 and 9 series. A good user experience is very important to us, and we have several X performance improvements in development that will help KDE 4, Compiz, and GTK+ performance on these GPUs. Some of these improvements will be available in the short term, while others are longer-term architectural improvements.
Thank you for your feedback.

I've found that FireFox3 (at least the build I have) allocates and frees a huge number of small- to medium-sized pixmaps every time I mouse over a link. One of the features in the upcoming driver release improves allocation times for short-lived pixmaps which I've found dramatically improves scrolling and link-mouse-overing performance in FF3b5. Of course, Firefox could improve it even more by not churning through so many pixmaps.
