salve!

è da qualche giorno che compare un messaggio di errore all'avvio del sistema:

Sound server information message:
error while initializing the sound server:
device: default can't be opened for playback (invalid argument)
the sound server will continue , using the null output device


premetto che non ho smanettato con la periferica audio. ho provato a googlare un pò, ma ad ogni topic che trovato simile al mio la discussione si fermava (inconcludente).

quando lancio il comando, mi esce "no supported pnp or pci card found. would you like to probe legacy isa sound card/chips?", che devo fare?

nb: la musica si sente bene da amarok, ma invece non si sente da xmms. ho provato a riavviare il server sonoro dal centro di controllo e mi da (ovviamente) lo stesso errore che mi lancia all'avvio della sessione

Rispondi si, anche se non credo tu abbia una scheda su bus ISA...
Usi il kernel di default? Magari prova a postare l'lsmod.

da alsaconf, se faccio SI mi dice "probing legacy ISA cards might make your system unstable. proceed?", faccio YES e poi conclude dicendo "No legacy drivers are available"

da lsmod, esce

In linea di massima non fa differenza il fatto che sia un portatile.
Sembra un problema di kernel invece, l'hai compilato tu?

no, l'ha compilato 1 mio amico. ma prima funzionava bene. potrebbe essere che dopo 1 aggiornamento con swaret sia potuto succedere qualcosa?

Confermi di riuscire a sentire la musica con Amarok?
Non ho capito come fa a funzionare la tua scheda senza moduli e senza alsa-driver!
Che scheda audio hai?
Io controllerei che i moduli siano presenti...
Dai un lspci -n, incolla l'output qui e premi check per oontrollare di quali moduli ha bisogno la tua scheda.
Poi lancia questo comando per controllare che siano presenti:

A quanto pare abbiamo la stessa scheda!
Quindi se find /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/ -iname "snd-hda-intel\.ko" non ti restituisce niente credo dovrai ricompilare il kernel...
Dovresti aprire da root il config del tuo kernel, ossia kwrite /usr/src/linux/.config, poi sostituisci la parte relativa ai driver sonori con questa che uso io:

Non so veramente che dirti...
Come ho già detto non capisco come faccia a funzionare senza moduli e senza alsa-driver.
Come ho già detto, se qualcuno ha un'idea migliore si faccia avanti.
...ma che cosa hai aggiornato con swaret? Non avrai mica aggiornato il kernel o ALSA?

prova anche a dare

modprobe snd-hda-intel model=3stack

e poi alsamixer, alzando tutti i volumi e togliendo i mute. Se carica il modulo così, potresti risparmiarti la ricompilazione del kernel ed a questo punto dovresti dare solo il comando alsactl store e mettere in /etc/modprobe.d/ un file sound fatto così:
