Se avete problemi con l'installazione e la configurazione di Slackware postate qui. Non usate questo forum per argomenti generali... per quelli usate Gnu/Linux in genere.

Regole del forum
1) Citare sempre la versione di Slackware usata, la versione del Kernel e magari anche la versione della libreria coinvolta. Questi dati aiutano le persone che possono rispondere.

DRIVER ATi 7500

Salve ragazzi.... vorrei sapere come configurare il mio sistema riguardo la scheda video...
La mia è una ATi 7500 (Chipset M7)... Ho visto che non ci sono driver per linux ma che bisogna utilizzare il comando radeon...
Qualcuno può aiutarmi?? :-k :-k

Nessun comando radeon... devi usare il driver "radeon" in xorg.conf.
I driver proprietari di AMD/ATI (fglrx) non supportano da tempo la tua scheda, percui ti conviene appoggiarti a quelli opensource, normalmente già presenti sul sistema.
Per attivarli, non devi far altro che specificare un Device in xorg.conf che usi il driver "radeon" e metterlo all'interno della sezione Screen che utilizzi nel ServerLayout.

Ti ringrazio per la tua risposta... ma avevo già visto il comando man radeon, ma non ho capito come configurare...
Potresti farmi un esempio, postarmi il tuo xconf, linkarmi qualcosa?? :-k

In effetti la 7500 non è supportata dal driver closed; molti utenti comunque sono riusciti a configurare molto bene quella scheda con il driver "radeon" opensource.
Puoi trovare molti tutorial facendo una ricerca con Google; ad esempio:

mmmm... ho appena configurato il file xorg.conf ma ora mi va in crash!!!
Potete postarmi quello di default (con i driver vesa intendo...) :|

Nello Screen all'interno del tuo ServerLayout continui ad usare vesa (Device "VESA Framebuffer"). Devi mettere come device "ATI Technologies, Inc. Radeon Mobility 7500 M7 (RV200 LW)" (certo che potevi anche scegliere un nome più corto... :doubt: ).

Ti ringrazio per la tua pazienza!!! avevo già risolto e mi scuso per questa banalità... :D
Ora il problema è un altro... Provando a giocare a Frets On Fire, il gioco parte ma la grafica va a scatti...
Come posso risolvere?? devo installare qualcosa del tipo Directx?? :roll:

mmm ho abilitato il direct rendering ma adesso non vedo + nulla quando carico il gioco....

si, butta la scheda ati :-)
scherzi a parte.. a me avviando compiz mi diventa lo schermo bianco.
è notorio che ati da sempre problemi, anche su windows

comunque se si trovassero ancora altre schede agp l'avrei già buttata..
ho una dozzina di pc con ati che non stanno andando molto bene; come vedo un cenno di problema hardware non indago... cambio la scheda video e puntualmente funziona tutto.

Il problema è che la mia sta su un portatile... e a quanto ne so non si può cambiare nè ne esistono di esterne (usb,PCMCIA)
Il mio portatile è un IBM T40... ci sono troppo affezionato!!! :p
Qualcuno ha qualche idea?? [-o<

Prova a lanciare il gioco da shell (konsole se usi KDE) e riporta l'output, per vedere se ci sono errori.

Per far partire il gioco devo dare il comando in console... ./FretsOnFire
Il problema è che dato il comando mi si apre la schermata del gioco a tutto schermo ma non leggo nulla....
non posso ritornare al kde in nessun modo, ma mi vedo costretto a far ripartire il server grafico (Ctrl+Alt+Canc)... :-k

nemmeno con ctrl+c ?

hai queste 4 soluzioni:
1) avvia il gioco con ./FretsOnFire >/tmp/log 2>&1; così in /tmp/log hai i log
2) avvia il gioco; ctrl+alt+f6 e killi il gioco
3) ctrl+alt+f6;export DISPLAY=:0; xhost +;ctrl+alt+f6;avvia il gioco; se il gioco si pianta fai ctrl+alt+f6 e ctrl+c oppure ctrl+alt+backspace
4) se hai un altro pc: avvia il gioco; con l'altro pc entra in ssh; killa il gioco
