Log dei crash

Se avete problemi con l'installazione e la configurazione di Slackware postate qui. Non usate questo forum per argomenti generali... per quelli usate Gnu/Linux in genere.

Regole del forum
1) Citare sempre la versione di Slackware usata, la versione del Kernel e magari anche la versione della libreria coinvolta. Questi dati aiutano le persone che possono rispondere.
2) Per evitare confusione prego inserire in questo forum solo topic che riguardano appunto Slackware, se l'argomento è generale usate il forum Gnu/Linux in genere.
3) Leggere attentamente le risposte ricevute.
4) Scrivere i messaggi con il colore di default, evitare altri colori.
5) Scrivere in Italiano o in Inglese, se possibile grammaticalmente corretto, evitate stili di scrittura poco chiari, quindi nessuna abbreviazione tipo telegramma o scrittura stile SMS o CHAT.
6) Appena registrati è consigliato presentarsi nel forum dedicato.

La non osservanza delle regole porta a provvedimenti di vari tipo da parte dello staff, in particolare la non osservanza della regola 5 porta alla cancellazione del post e alla segnalazione dell'utente. In caso di recidività l'utente rischia il ban temporaneo.

Log dei crash

Essendo nuovo di linux non so bene quale log guardare per trovare l'errore dei miei crash.
spesso mi crasha kde e mi riporta al login, se però mi riloggo una volta arrivato al desktop mi diventa lo schermo bianco e devo riavviare il computer.
In quale log posso trovare informazioni utili a capire da cosa deriva l'errore?

visto che è il server grafico a crachare, guarda nel log di esso:
/var/log/Xorg.0.log

lo schermo bianco al relogin è dovuto alla tua scheda video (ed alla mia) ATI, non ne conosco il motivo ma se fai l'operazione di relogin con compiz attivo, al riavvio ti aspetta uno schermo bianco. A quel punto, per non riavviare completamente il computer, io premo (al buio perchè non si vede niente)
ALT+F2
e digito
kwin --replace &
e premo invio e parte la grafica (con compiz disattivato)

se appare lo schermo bianco dopo aver lanciato X ma sospettate che il pc non sia freddato potete premere la combinazione Alt+BackSpace che killa X restituendovi la cara shell di login...

Un po' brutale ma sempre meglio del reboot... ;)
