Se avete problemi con l'installazione e la configurazione di Slackware postate qui. Non usate questo forum per argomenti generali... per quelli usate Gnu/Linux in genere.

Regole del forum
1) Citare sempre la versione di Slackware usata, la versione del Kernel e magari anche la versione della libreria coinvolta. Questi dati aiutano le persone che possono rispondere.
2) Per evitare confusione prego inserire in questo forum solo topic che riguardano appunto Slackware, se l'argomento è generale usate il forum Gnu/Linux in genere.
3) Leggere attentamente le risposte ricevute.

Salve ragazzi, sono nuovo sia del forum sia della comunità :)

Pochi giorni fa mi sono detto, vorrei imparare LINUX! :p e da li è iniziata la ricerca della distro....alla fine gira e rigira mi sono detto, perchè non partire subito forte?!?! e allora mi sono tuffato su slackware! Il mio obiettivo è imparare il sistema, i comandi, le config ecc ecc. Insomma vorrei smanettare un pò e le difficoltà mi attirano parecchio :badgrin:

Risolti i problemi di archivi corrotti dell'installazione (alla fine l'ho fatta via ftp) sono giunto al login! :D

Avendo letto parecchio e provando qualche distro live qua e la ho visto che mi attira di più KDE come veste grafica...inizio così a leggere doc e guide, setto xorgsetup e seleziono KDE in xwmconfig. Quando però eseguo startx, esce la schermata nera e poi più nulla, tutto BLOCCATO! :cry:

allora inizio a leggere del file xorg.conf provo ad aprirlo a vedere se posso cambiare qualcosa ma non ne esco fuori vincitore! Considerando poi che aogni volta che provo ad avviare X e si blocca devo resettare dal pulsante e quindi doppio avvio di slack visto che non chiudo bene la sessione e effettua un check di hda2 e poi reboot :|

Provando però a cambiare ambiente grafico in xwmconfig si avvia (per esempio fluxbox).

Ho letto anche che c'è il comando xorgconfig (oltre a xorgsetup) che fa procedere passo passo con la config ma non mi si avvia, mi dice command not found!

per quanto riguarda il tuo problema , sei in possesso di una scheda grafica intel?

dimenticavo nella versione di X utilizzato da slackware 13 xorgconfig è stato sostituito da xorgsetup , per cui è normale che il comando non viene trovato

Ciao. Si ho scaricato il pdf e stavo cercando di trovare qualcosa ma lui fa partire direttamente KDE nella guida, a me non va :D

Occhio che xorg.conf con la Slackware 13 dovresti usarlo solo nel caso in cui xorg non rilevi correttamente scheda, monitor, tastiera, eccetera. E meglio solo per la parte che devi forzare. Leggi anche il wiki di slacky.eu relativo ai problemi e consigli per la Slack13.
Anche se non è che ci sia da aspettarsi granché come differenza...

Se si avvia Fluxbox, X e il driver della scheda video non dovrebbero avere problemi.
Il file /etc/xorg.conf non è più indispensabile al server X (1.6.3) in quanto hal gestisce direttamente la configurazione. Se esiste un file /etc/X11/xorg.conf viene comunque letto e utilizzato.
Se la scheda video non supporta l'accelerazione grafica, KDE dovrebbe partire senza utilizzare il compositing, quindi teoricamente senza problemi, teoricamente...
In /etc/X11 c'è comunque un file xorg.conf-vesa che puoi utilizzare/modificare per usare il driver vesa.
Credo che hai verosimilmente dimenticato di installare qualche pacchetto/libreria necessari a KDE.
Ti consiglio di procurarti la iso tramite torrent, così sei sicuro che i file non sono corrotti e che ci sono tutti, anche i driver Intel alternativi, nel caso appunto che tu ne abbia bisogno.

ho eliminato xorg.conf così è solo HAL (di cui ancora ho poche info a riguardo, dovrò leggere qualcosa su di lui) a gestire il tutto.

Per quanto riguarda l'installazione ho fatto quella totale inserendo tutto il possibile e non ci sono stati errori di nessun genere.

Giracchiando pare che per la mia VGA ci sono i driver linux, ho trovato questo sito

potrei inserire i driver appositi magari milglioro qualcosa :D

il probela ora è che devo scoprire come ehehe

PS. quando tento di far partire X e non va, c'è un modo per tornare alla shell senza che debba resettare il pc con conseguente doppio riavvio?!?

Rieccomi qui con qualche novità.

Eliminando xorg.conf e selezionando KDE adesso si avvia una schermata con sfondo grigio e in mezzo un rettangolo dove c'è dapprima un icona di un HD poi un'icona con chiave inglese e cacciavite, poi un'altra che si vede sfuocata perchè il sistema si è piantato!il muose non si muove più ed è tutto bloccato...ora ho scoperto come evitare di resettare bruscamente, basta premere 1 volta il pulsante di accensione che effettua lo shutdown da solo (senz che mi fa vedere nulla e tutto impallato)...

Con fluxbox e xcfe parte tutto ma con KDE nisba. L'unica cosa è che a ogni avvio mi seleziona la risoluzione errata e devo rimetterla :D

Sto pensando che il problema non è la scheda video visto che con xfce ora sto usando anche xorg.conf che sono riuscito a configurare decentemente anche con risoluzioni e refresh vari.

quando seleziono KDE con xwmconfig ora si avvia il desktop e parte la schermata in cui carica il tutto. Il blocco avviene quando carica la terza icona che sembra un mappamondo (non si vede benissimo che si blocca quando è sfuocata). A questo punto ho visto anche il log Xorg.0.log e non riporta errori. Forse è qualcos altro che non va...

Sapete per caso se trovo un LOG che mi può aiutare?? non so tipo un log di KDE...arriverà a un certo punto in cui si blocca e qualche errore ci deve essere...

Ora mi stava venendo in mente di reinstallare KDE, non so se rimettere la versione corrente o una vecchia, ma qui sono totalmente spaesato...ho provato a googlare ma non riesco a trovare il bandolo (ancora non ho capito cosa devo scaricare :D)...dalla guida dovrei trovare un pò di pacchetti tgz e installarli (stando attento alle dpipendenze)

Ciao a tutti, mi inserisco nella discussione perchè credo che il problema di joey sia simile al mio: io ho installato la Slackware 13 su un PC con una scheda video Intel (un Dell Dimension 3000 con processore Pentium 4). L'installazione si è conclusa regolarmente; tuttavia, quando ho riavviato la macchina e fatto partire Linux, dopo essermi loggato come root e digitato "startx", compariva la schermata del caricamento di KDE; il problema è che il caricamento di KDE non si conclude, perchè arriva ad un certo punto e poi "si pianta". :-k

La scheda video è la seguente (output del comando lspci -v)

Ho appena letto il wiki relativo ai problemi noti della slackware 13. Il mio caso rientra tra questi? (nel wiki si parla di problemi di "lentezza", mentre a me KDE non parte proprio...). Inoltre, ho scaricato i driver della intel da un mirror (ci sono ben 4 file .txz e li ho trovati nella directory extra/xf86-video-intel-alternate/ ), mi consigliate di fare dei tentativi installando questi driver?

Inoltre, nel wiki si parla di aggiungere l'opzione

Si direi che è lo stesso mio problema.

Diciamo che qualche passo in avanti l'ho fatto, ora mi manca solo l'ultima icona del caricamento di KDE! :cry:

Ho reinstallato tutto da zero scaricando il DVD e mettendolo in una partizione per evitare errori. Ho installato tutto senza intoppi (almeno nessun errore è uscito fuori)

Ora parte la schermata di caricamento, carica le prime 4 icone, poi all'ultima si pianta e devo fare il reboot.

Inizio a essere a corto di idee :shock:

ciao, io ho avuto lo stesso problema e sto cercando di installare i driver open.Comunque se vuoi risolvere il problema momentaneamente apri il file /etc/X11/xorg.conf-vesa e rinominalo come /etc/X11/xorg.conf.Io così momentaneamente ho risolto, o perlomeno mi si avvia il desktop poi piano piano provvederò a metterlo a posto, prova fammi sapere se funziona ciao.

Anch'io ho utilizzato questa soluzione e ora KDE non si pianta più all'avvio, ma ho i seguenti problemi: :-k

1) ho dovuto impostare nel file xorg.conf rinominato la depth a 16 perchè anche con quella predefinita (24) non partiva X;

2) una volta modificato xorg.conf, KDE si avvia ma con una risoluzione di 640*480. Mica si può cambiare qualcosa in xorg.conf per portare la risoluzione quantomeno ad 800 * 600?

Prima di fare questo tentativo ho installato i driver alternativi Intel (prima il 2.8.1 e poi il 2.7.1) consigliati nel wiki, ma KDE non si avviava. La domanda che pongo è la seguente: dopo aver installato i file TXZ della scheda video Intel, c'è qualche altra cosa da fare?

ragazzi anche io ho lo stesso problema... si pianta all'avvio di X. Si vede solo una schermata nera e nient'altro

Rieccomi qua. Dopo vani tentativi alla fine ho scelto la soluzione più drastica: ho cambiato scheda video! :D

Ho rimediato una Nvidia GF serie 5 AGP da un amico che ce l'aveva dentro un pc vecchio e l'ho messa, reinstallata tutta slackware (nei vari tentativi avevo modificato troppa roba :( ) e magia delle magie KDE si è avviato al primo colpo senza neanche mettere i driver e creare il file Xorg.conf!!

Ora ho installato anche i driver e lui automaticamente mi ha creato il file xorg.conf che però non mi piace come lo ha fatto per cui ho fatto partire xwmconfig e ora lo modificherò ad hoc per il mio hw dandogli in pasto i driver nvidia installati.

So che così non sarò molto di aiuto a coloro che hanno il problema, perlomeno si può dire con quasi certezza che la colpa è della VGA (era una quasi certezza anche prima, però...)

Adesso posso dedicarmi ad altro...e fidatevi che tornerò molto presto qui a scrivere per altri problemi :D
