Problema con l'Installazione dei driver NVIDIA

Ma è normale che non si può disattivare sta scheda video dell'intel? cioè che roba è? .. nel bios trovo le impostazioni per l'hard disk per altre periferiche come usb, bluetooth, le caratteristiche del processore, le opzioni di boot.. ma di scheda video non se ne parla... alla fine potrei usare anche l'intel ma credo che l'nvidia ion sia migliore.. e poi il pannello lo vedo a metà nero (credo sia per i driver mancanti) lo vedevo anche prima così, appena avevo installato slack.

Allora questo problema dell'X avevo già incontrato un paio di giorni fa. Quando ho installato i driver. Sono riuscito ad installarli senza problemi. Ma X non si avviava. Ho formattato e rimesso Slack (anche perchè non andava la scheda di rete, ho pensato che ho copiato male i file dal dvd sulle pennette). Poi non riuscivo a installare i driver perchè avevo fatto qualche modifica al kernel per (suggerita da Emanuele) per far andare la scheda di rete. Dopo questa cosa ho deciso di riprovare ad installare i driver (credevo avessi scaricato il driver sbagliato). E mi dava errore per cui ho dovuto ricompilare il kernel (sempre suggerito da Emanuele). Ora ho questo problema qui.

tante' che dovevi ricompilare prendi uno degli ultimi kernel a disposizione,che so il 2.6.37 perche il supporto a nuove tecnologie e' piu esteso e' chiaro che e' solo una mia idea.

Non c'è una sezione chiamata, ad esempio "integrated peripheral" o qualcosa di simile, magari qualcosa chiamata "VGA". In pratica il tuo PC ha due schede video, una è quella Intel, integrata sulla scheda madre e l'altra è quella invidia posta, presumo, in uno slot PCI Express. Il problema è che il PC vede come primaria la scheda video Intel e secondo me (ma mi posso anche sbagliare) crea problemi con i driver nvidia.

Con i driver open hai provato? "nv" al posto di "nvidia"? Sinceramente credo che il kernel c'entri poco, il modulo nvidia viene compilato dai driver. Per lo schermo a metà, la risoluzione sembra impostata a "1366x768", non è quella corretta?

Offtopic: Hai ragione erio, ma la storia è più complessa. Noi prima abbiamo scaricato il pacchetto del kernel per la current solo per risolvere il problema della scheda di rete. Solo dopo che si sono verificati i problemi per la compilazione del modulo nvidia abbiamo dovuto ricompilare il kernel. Ho deciso di fargli ricompilare quello della current per non dover configurare un nuovo kernel (abbiamo semplicemente usato il config di Pat).

P.S. Secondo me la cosa veramente strana è che non sia possibile disabilitare la scheda video integrata da BIOS o, almeno, farla passare in secondo piano.

P.S. Solo per curiosità, hai detto di avere un fisso giusto? potresti collegare lo schermo del fisso al notebook e far partire il server X con i driver "nvidia"? Mi sdubbia che nel log si citi CRT-0.

Ah, ok, allora i driver open non supportano la tua scheda video. Ma il log non dovrebbe essere uguale, si dovrebbero caricare i driver open "nv" e quindi indicarti che non trova nessuno schermo.

La prova con il monitor del fisso la puoi fare? E' curioso che si citi CRT-0 nel log e che il server X appaia avviato, anche se bloccato.

Eppure è strano. Sono andato a vedere un po' di log dei driver NVIDIA e sembra che il tuo log sia normale (a parte il CRT-0 che mi sembra curioso ma che non vuol dire nulla). A questo punto sono tentato di pensare che dovrebbe funzionare correttamente anche senza disabilitare la scheda integrata. Nel link che hai postato dice che i driver nvidia possono incrementare il loro log. Proviamo a vedere se ci dice qualcosa in più. Devi eseguire il server X con:

quindi postaci il log di X.

Avevo chiesto di fare la prova con i driver "nvidia" e non con "nv"

. Vabbé, fa niente. Dall'output che hai postato sembra che ci sia un errore diverso da quello che mi aspettavo. Forse può essere anche collegato all'errore dei driver NVIDIA. Tu intanto incrementa il livello dei log come ti ho descritto nel post precedente.
