Regole del forum

nouveau e dvb

ciao, sto usando da un po' i driver nouveau (perchè vanno meglio con kde rispetto i nvidia legacy) ma con questi driver non mi funziona più la tv della scheda dvb-t, non parte proprio il flusso audio/video mentre se metto i vecchi nv funziona...
tutti gli altri video funzionano.
vorrei continuare ad usare i nouveau perchè almeno un minimo di accelerazione 3d la danno... come posso fare?

si tratta di una gf fx5700 che quindi richiede i driver proprietari lagacy della serie 173.x che con kde4 hanno scarse prestazioni, per questo ho smesso di usarli preferendo i nouveau e anche perchè con i nouveu vedo la console fb alla giusta risoluzione del monitor

la soluzione non è conveniente! :D
se devo comprare un altra scheda agp, che sarebbe comunque di una vecchia serie e la pagherei come una nuova, per poi metterla in un pc di 6 anni fa, conviene comprare tutto il pc nuovo... e non lo voglio ancora fare perchè il fisso lo uso solo il fine settimana e sarebbe sprecato cambiarlo ora

è passato tempo, sono stati fatti aggiornamenti, ma questo problema non si è mai risolto... però ho qualche informazione in più...
lo stesso pc fa la stessa cosa anche cambiando scheda dvb... cioè con una usb della avermedia al posto della pci della terratec si comporta allo stesso modo.

invece con un altro pc sul quale ho messo una geforce 2 mx400 e gli stessi driver nouveau, se pur un po' lento, funziona con la stessa scheda dvb-t usb della avermedia.

quindi è come se il problema si presentasse solo se la configurazione è composta dalla geforce fx5700 e i driver nouveau e a prescindere dalla scheda dvb.

La butto lì:

potrebbe essere un problema di estensioni Xorg mal digerite dall'accoppiata fx5700/nouveau. Visti i log che hai postato, considerando che con i vecchi nv riesci a far funzionare la scheda dvb, prova a vedere nel log di Xorg se c'è qualche indizio che ti collega al problema.

La differenza tra nv e nouveau, KMS/mesa/gallium a parte, è che il primo non supporta l'estensione Composite, mentre il secondo sì. Prova a disabilitare quell'estensione. Con la nuova Slack potresti mettere un file del genere:

/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/90-extensions.conf:

Riavvii X e vedi se cambia qualcosa.

Il problema è che facendo così perdi in prestazioni, ma è giusto per vedere se qualcosa "si muove".

((Sempre che la questione non derivi dal Kernel Mode Setting, ma non credo)).

P.s.
Come ultima spiaggia, potresti provare disattivare l'accelerazione => `man nouveau`.

ora non sono a casa e non ho quel pc (fisso).. il fine settimana ti posso dare volentieri queste informazioni, però se non sbaglio già provai a disattivare il composite in quel modo senza che cambiasse nulla e nei log di xorg non si leggeva niente di strano.
comunque venerdi sera provo a vedere cosa dice xvinfo.

ieri sera di fretta ho rimesso il driver nouveau ed ho provato xvinfo ma non ho fatto in tempo a fare altre prove... comunque ho notato che coi driver proprietari mi diceva tipo:

Uhm.... ma non è che c'entra qualcosa quel XvMc associato da Xorg all'uscita video NV30 Texture Adaptor (che sarebbe il primo della lista, marcato con 0)?

Che comando usi - in particolare mplayer - per riprodurre i canali?

si infatti è l'unica cosa strana che ho notato, però teoricamente NV30 rilevato coi nouveau sarebbe quello giusto e NV17 che diceva coi proprietari no, perchè il chipset NV17 sarebbe quello delle geforce4 mx :)

comunque ora mplayer è stato aggiornato insieme a slackware e non da più le info di debug... rimene fermo così:

Prova a passare a mplayer un altro adaptor, se ho letto bene l'output di xvinfo ne hai tre.

Vedi se per caso aggiungendo il flag -v salta fuori qualche messaggio.

ho provato anche il 2 ma non va comunque :(
sembra che non funziona la decodifica mpeg ed ho appena visto che infatti se apro una vecchia registrazione con kaffeine e fatta stesso con kaffeine (ho registrato quando avevo i driver proprietari), questo crasha allo stesso modo, però mplayer e vlc le registrazioni le aprono ma dalla dvb nemmeno loro... non so se mi sono fatto capire...
