Probably because you can find it on the slackware official ftp so NOBODY here want compete with a PAT's TGZ

The Gimp is also in the official Slackware... K3b also, Xchat also... But we have them here in .tgz /All of them newer versions than the official ones in Slackware/...

I just guess Loris is the only one managing the slacky.it repository and he obviously doesn't have enough time to keep up to date every single package, so he probably thinks it's not worth to just copy the very same version which is in the Slackware official repositories.
