Se avete problemi con l'installazione e la configurazione di Slackware postate qui. Non usate questo forum per argomenti generali... per quelli usate Gnu/Linux in genere.

Regole del forum
1) Citare sempre la versione di Slackware usata, la versione del Kernel e magari anche la versione della libreria coinvolta. Questi dati aiutano le persone che possono rispondere.

La non osservanza delle regole porta a provvedimenti di vari tipo da parte dello staff, in particolare la non osservanza della regola 5 porta alla cancellazione del post e alla segnalazione dell'utente. In caso di recidività l'utente rischia il ban temporaneo.

io ho il kenel 2.4.31 su una slack10.2. Ho installato il driver nvidia ma il direct rendering quando do glxinfo mi risulta disattivato. Premetto che ho impostato bene il file xorg.conf e che il modulo glx non è commentato.
Qui http://www.slacky.it/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10784 ho letto che il direct rendering nn va con il 2.4.x. Ma è vero. Un''altra cosa, ricordo che durante l'installazione (forse sbaglio però) mi diceva che avrebbe aggiornato il file modules.conf, però dopo di questo io ho installato la scheda audio con alsa, e ora in modules.conf c'è solo la sezione di alsa. Potrebbe essere questo??
Quasi dimenticavo, la mia scheda video è una geffo4mx440.

io intanto procedo per tentativi, e ho letto tramite il mitico google che è probabile che con la 2.4 vada aggiunta a modules.conf una riga, esattamente quella alias char-major etc...... Ho provato anche questa ma nn va. Ho provato anche a dare i permessi a /dev/nvidia* ma niente. comunque il logo nvidia parte all'avvio, però nn va il direct rendering (ragazzi ho installato ut2004, e è scattosissimo per questo cavolo di direct rendering!!!!!). Tanto per curiosità come si disinstallano i driver nvidia??? Al limite li tolgo e li rimetto sperando torni tutto a posto (anche se la cosa fa molto Windows e non è che gradisca molto questa soluzione). :twisted:

Ho sempre usato nvidia anche su 2.4.x senza problemi. Posta il contenuto di /var/log/nvidia.installer.log.
Hai notato che il uo xorg.conf ha commentato la riga seguente:?

# ModulePath "/usr/X11R6/lib/modules"

Decommentala e prova. I moduli di xorg stanno lì, non è bene commentarli....
Per esempio, glx di nvidia sta qua:

allora io ho installato la slack dai due cd e al momento della scelta del kernel ho selezionato quello di default, non il 2.6 che c'era in testin, sinceramente nn mi spiego quella discrepanza. comunque il log dell'installer è questo.

Mah, che ti dicono :
lsmod
cat /proc/version
ti rimane comunque da controllare che i sorgenti del kernel siano quelli del kernel che stai usando, cioè devono corrispondere all'output del comando `uname -r`, se tutto torna prova a disinstallare ( sh nvidia-installer --uninstall) e a reinstallare il driver.
In /usr/src, se presente, il link simbolico [/b]linux deve puntare ai sorgenti del kernel in uso.
Dopo la reinstallazione, posta ancora il log dell'installer, magari c'è qualche novità.

ho reinstallato i driver (forse alsa aveva veramente combinato qualcosa sennò non mi spiego il perchè) e ora il direct rendering va. Grazie per il tempo "perso".

non ho postato prima perchè ero al lavoro, però adesso all'avvio di ut2004 mi dice Cannot Load OpenGl library. Bah
Ho provato anche a mettere i 76.76 ma niente. comunque per es adesso apps tipo blender funzionano meglio, anche che ne so ppracer nn scatta +.

risolto pure questo. prima di avviare ut2004 si deve dare qst comando

export LD_PRELOAD=libGL.so.1

basta metterlo come prima riga dello script ut2004, che si trova nella directory dove lo avete installato.
