Problema driver nvidia

Se avete problemi con l'installazione e la configurazione di Slackware postate qui. Non usate questo forum per argomenti generali... per quelli usate Gnu/Linux in genere.

Regole del forum
1) Citare sempre la versione di Slackware usata, la versione del Kernel e magari anche la versione della libreria coinvolta. Questi dati aiutano le persone che possono rispondere.
2) Per evitare confusione prego inserire in questo forum solo topic che riguardano appunto Slackware, se l'argomento è generale usate il forum Gnu/Linux in genere.
3) Leggere attentamente le risposte ricevute.
4) Scrivere i messaggi con il colore di default, evitare altri colori.
5) Scrivere in Italiano o in Inglese, se possibile grammaticalmente corretto, evitate stili di scrittura poco chiari, quindi nessuna abbreviazione tipo telegramma o scrittura stile SMS o CHAT.
6) Appena registrati è consigliato presentarsi nel forum dedicato.

La non osservanza delle regole porta a provvedimenti di vari tipo da parte dello staff, in particolare la non osservanza della regola 5 porta alla cancellazione del post e alla segnalazione dell'utente. In caso di recidività l'utente rischia il ban temporaneo.

Problema driver nvidia

Ho appena installato i driver per la mia scheda video e ho notato che i caratteri si vedono male rispetto a prima e inoltre al posto delle virgole vedo dei punti :shock: ...Dopo aver installato i driver ho solo modificato l'xorg.conf sostituendo nella sezione device la stringa che c'era con

Sbaglio qualcosa ? Come risolvo ?

Al termine dell' installazione dei driver ti viene chiesto se vuoi che venga automaticamente modificato xorg per far funzionare il driver se cliccavi su si forse questo problema non lo avevi, per l' anti-aliasing dal centro di controllo di kde:

-->Aspetto e temi --> Tipi di carattere

abilita utilizza l'antri-aliasing per i caratteri poi clicca su configura:

Io ho solo impostato a medio lo stile di hinting il resto è disabilitato. Vedi un po' se ti funziona. Ciao.

Quando installi il driver NVIDIA il binario che trovi sul sito della NVIDIA, e lo installi fuori da X, ti fa tutto in automatico...Io ce l'ho, e non ho problemi

Allora...

1) Che monitor hai?
2) Esattamente cosa signfica vedo caratteri per altri.. Disegnati male? o quando la tastiera non corrisponde (xchè sotto xorg la tastiera è quella di sist.)
3) Come hai installato i driver nvidia?

Ci avevo pensato, ma sia con il mio xorg.conf che con quello generato dai diver stessi il problema persiste.
Per il resto non credo sia un problema di anti-aliasing di kde dato che non utilizzabdo i driver nvidia il problema sparisce.

Non vedo caratteri per altri, solo dei punti al posto delle virgole.
Gli altri caratteri li vedo male nel senso che...sembrano...'ruvidi'...non so come descriverli...
La cosa strana è che si vedono male sono in alcune applicazioni (browser in primis).

Prova ad abbassare la risoluzione e vedi che effetto fà, per esempio metti una risoluzione di 1024 x 768.

In genere uso una risoluzione di 1024x768 ! :D Comunque ho dovuto eliminare tutto dato che dovevo fare ordine con le partizioni...

Ma per caso la versione del gcc con cui compilo il modulo nvidia deve essere uguale alla versione del gcc con cui ho ricompilato il kernel ???

Problema di frequenza refresh verticale, probabilmente. il nuovo driver legge le frequenze del monitor tramite bus edid ed ignora ciò che sta scritto in xorg.conf; il refresh verticale viene settato perciò al più alto valore, in genere 75 Hz, valore adatto ad un monitor crt ma non certo ad un lcd che di solito vuole un VertRefresh di 60 Hz. Nel README di nvidia c'è una sezione con la descrizione su come disattivare la lettura del bus Edid. Si può anche dire a kde o a gnome di regolarsi a 60 Hz una volta che si accede al desktop environment stesso...

Ma per caso la versione del gcc con cui compilo il modulo nvidia deve essere uguale alla versione del gcc con cui ho ricompilato il kernel ???
Su questo non si transige, ma il check che fa il driver nvidia in caso di non corrispondenza ti avrebbe cacciato fuori dall'installer.

Esattamente, il refresh del mio monitor va impostato su 60 Hz ma lo ritrovo sempre a 75, anche dalle impostazioni del monitor di xfce. In pratica posso cambiare la risoluzione ma non i refresh.
Che posso fare ?

Esattamente, il refresh del mio monitor va impostato su 60 Hz ma lo ritrovo sempre a 75, anche dalle impostazioni del monitor di xfce. In pratica posso cambiare la risoluzione ma non i refresh.
Che posso fare ?
Lo ritrovi a 75 perchè come dicevo il driver nvidia sovralegge xorg.conf, rileva direttamente dal monitor la massima frequenza di cui è capace; per far sì che il driver torni a leggere le frequenze scritte in xorg.conf:
